There's very little actually holding them on, just a pair of screws at the fuel tank. The ends just fit into the slots on the nosecone and are kept there by pressure from the fairing stay and the centre nose bolt.
I took mine off ages ago as they had started to rattle. I didn't notice any loss in performance at all.
It's just a gimmick as standard RVFs aren't ram air. The racing boys do theirs by converting the airbox with the HRC scoop and rerouting the wiring and rads so air comes in from under the headstock.
It also takes a significant amount of carb modification and the fuel system is pressurised (usually with a pump from an early R6)

yeah i was having a look today, and there's only the 2 screws you mentioned near the fuel tank cover =/ so they end just sit on the nosecone slots pretty much?
so if i took these off, it wouldn't make a difference to performance at all buddy? although i'll probably keep em so people know it's a RVF hehe!? ____________________ VFR 400 & RVF 400 |
