I don't think I have ever been happier on a bike. My vada has been off the road for a few days due to a theft attempt and the replacement disc I bought being more fucked then the one already on my bike. But today all is well. Brand new disc so back on the road Very Happy

When I bought my new bike I also bought all new gear including much needed winter thermal gear. Every part of my gear is completely wind proof and thermally lined.

Also bought some thermal long sleve shirts and long johns, all this plus a wind shield around my neck means I barely noticed the -2 temp on the way to work. Also got a small hot water bottle which fits lovely inside my jacket.

I feel a twat for all these years I have frozen my arse off and just put up with it.

It's a lovely feeling never holding traffic up and being able to over take slow moving traffic!

Yeah yeah I know I have heard it all before " get a 6zillion cc bike then see how you feel" stfu I don't want to hear it!

I'm so happy today and people at work have commented Smile I'm now enjoying biking again and not just using a bike to get to A to B!

Stay safe people and I hope you're enjoying your bikes like I am Very Happy

Get a 400cc Jap bike, 75 MPG + almost the performance of a 600 = best of both worlds.

Laughing

But yeah, 125's are fantastic, I'm grabbing my mates learner CG125 for a cafe-racer project, as far as I'm aware, no serious bikers Garage is complete without one! great backup bike as well.

Happy Trails

Great - I feel the same with my 125. The only thing I have a problem with is cold fingers - can you send me a link to what gloves you use? Mine are supposed to be thermally lines, and I also use "thermal" glove inners but they are both shite!

Not really. My CBR400 has half the power of my Daytona. Fun, yes. Geat handling? Yes. Easy to ride? Yes. 'Almost' the performance? Definitely not.

Coming up on 4 years, still get a daft grin on.

Hot water bottle is a bit, uh, fancy though.

Cold hands = muffs, accept no substitute.

I love my hot water bottle. I went round to a friends house the other day and showed him my new bike and gear. His dad was there and said " I remember the day's when bikers was real men. I have only ever had a leather jacket and jeans to keep me warm"

I replied and asked if he has the heating on in his flat which he replied " all the time it fucking freezing "

I was like " what's the difference? Keeping warm is keeping warm" at this point he turned round and walked inside. Well it was cold outside Wink

My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner!

Well, I suppose on a track, yeah... but around a city (where a 125 would be useful) my CB-1 never had trouble keeping up with 600's

It's more down to who's more prepared to die on the day I guess...

Personally, a 400 is probably my roof for what I consider 'useful' power. Every single 'drag' I've been in off the lights with a 600, the amount of extra go they get from 0-60 is minimal... and do you really want to be clocking more than 60 around London streets?

Sure can, Second to jerking off, sharing stories about my miserable life is my favorited thing to do with my time... but I suppose that applies to most people.

Reason is, Bought a shagged CBF125 with 4 ex owners and 7000 miles on the clock (I had NO experience of bikes, proving it pays to bring someone who knows what there doing along!) for £1000...

Well considering it was a turd, it lasted the 2000 miles pretty well..

Well after a few issues I was starting to get frustrated, especially when my mate who had the same bike was always pulling away faster and had a higher top-end! (probably shagged piston rings I bet) But the final straw came when I found out one of the rear shocks was not even secured to the chassis all along!!! the bolt was sheared... Well deciding that this bike would be the end of me I decided to search for a new machine.....

That's a fair bit of typing considering I'm working, I will not continue unless you like to know more?

Go on, I never get tired of hearing about CBFs failing like the cheap Indian hacks that they are.

I'm not sure why you got another one though.

Cheap and Indian, two good words that can be used to describe the CBF... despite this I carried on blissfully un-aware... Oh Honda, how your company reputation had forsaken me..

If only I could go back and warn myself of the terrible mistakes I was making... I would of just bought a fucking CG all along!!! but oh well, we live and we learn... some the hard way, the smarter ones the easy way from the mistakes of others....

But alas, my search began. Being a Typical 17 year-old scrote I was naturally thinking of the practical applications of a 125... like how many MPH past 70 I can go... and does it look "good" but anyway, time was pressing on.. I had no transport and the train was draining my soul...

Now, instead of budget ultra cheep like my first mistake, I decided to go for the other end of the spectrum, throw as much money into it as possible... great for a full licence purchaser, not so much for a CBT going n00b'lett!!!

Yes after much contemplation I decided on a brand new CBF125... urgh.. I know! I just felt the first one didn't do them justice.

My reasoning for this despite what is said about them, in very loose terms, is you do get a decent bike for the money. It's one of the faster 4T's 125's out there....

Well, one day I took my turd down to the Honda Garage and swapped for a brand spanking new CBF125 in white! (got £100 for the old bike xD, managed to scrub £900 of value!)

The joy of owning a brand new bike is un-paralleled, and I'm eternally grate full of being rich enough/lucky enough to afford one.

EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. The response from the engine was punchy and I could feel the whole bike working as one and making a real effort to propel myself along. Fantastic! first stop, mad mile. Went faster than I'de ever been (85 on the clocks and if you know the mad mile then you know this is possible as the conditions are literally perfect) and It was one of the best days of my life. I thought I had 'thee' bike now and nothing could go wrong...

But of course, nothing is permanent.

Would you like to know more??

Relatively speaking of course... There is no real faster 125 as there all shit.

My friend bought a 3.5K KTM 125, Super nice bike, and I bet it's fantastic for stunting! but at the end of the day... you know.

Yeah!

Good test - if he sustained sub 0 tempreture with just some jeans for even just one winter, then get him to bend his knees fully. You should hear a clicking sound, this is a sign they have been subjected to cold temperature for a sustained period.

I rode a winter with jeans, bad fucking idea! they click all the time now.... not advised.

Purely in traffic - no. But then you could say the very same thing about a CBF250 (as you can only go 70mph in the UK so what's the point of more?) Filtering and heavy traffic is only part of the equation for most riders.

Of course the extra power is useful. A 400 may get to 60 in 4 seconds but the bigger bikes are usefully quicker after that!

Of course, but my point is the difference between a CB-1 400cc and a 600cc from 0-60 (the relevant speed range) is minimal. They only just about (from my experience) pull ahead as at this point weight and grip make up more of the limiting factors. Also the CB-1 can obtain about 70-90 MPG (with a reasonable amount of thrashing thrown in the mix) thus for me, the optimum amount of "go" for a "acceptable" amount of MPG has been reached...

Whist a CBF250 can perform 0-60 in 10 seconds (over double) and pulls about 80-100 MPG... yeah, no challenge for a 400cc and with only a 20-30 MPG increase on average = not optimum...

You see what I'm getting at-ings?

Seeing as I have had a CBF125 (from new) for the past couple of months, I'd like to hear how the story ends though I'm sensing a pattern here....

I have never owned a cbf but I have read some truly nasty stories about them. Saying that I have seen a 09 plate cbf with 42k on the clock and it didn't look too bad. They cannot be that bad as I see more cbfs on the road then any other bike.

take it you got the new shape one with the belly pan? Tbh I would of spent the money on a nearly new cbr125. Seen 2012 models with next to no mileage go for 2500 on eBay over Xmas
