tis ok, under guidance from G i have decided to just buy either a new g2 engine (£500) or get a J1 engine that is on ebay at the mo.

what would you do?

G2 engine. 16k miles (£500 + £50 p&p)
or
J1 lump . 12k miles (£400 + £30 p&p)

Depends if you're keeping the bike or not.

If you are, get the G2, it's an improvement.

If you're getting rid, get the J1, it's cheaper.

Well my bike is a G2, so it would make sence to get the G2 engine, but from what i understand..the only diference between the G2, and the J1 is slightly lighter internals, and its got ridges on it clutch casing to help cool it.

although i think ill need G and keith to confirm that one

Bleh, got my alphabet the wrong way round. Rolling Eyes

I'd get the G2. You know it will fit 100%.

Hi

If it really does fit 100%, and you are certain of that, then go for the later and cheaper engine, but unless I was 100% certain then I would stick with the G2 engine.

It isn't only the engine mounts, but also the electrics, pickups for the ignition, compression ratio / cams (which will affect how the bike runs with the cdi unit and carbs you already have), etc.

As you are going to have your new toy on the road soon, I think you are going to keep using the ZXR for day to day use. As such I think I would go for the low hassle option and get the G2 engine.

Have they confirmed that the engine you already have will not fit?

All the best

Keith

the kawasaki mechanics told my the j1 uses the G2 frame, the only changes made were to the subframe, the j1's subframe is welded to the main unit, the G2 uses bolts.

they have said it will go straight in, however i the exhaust will not fit, due to the cyclinders being a few degrees lower than the g2

so im gunna stick with stock Razz

thx keith
