Pissed off with my job at the moment. Got sent to a new site, Torness Nuclear Power Station, and I'm a bit fed up case it's a 95 mile drive to it every morning Thumbs Down

So anyway I want to get a CV written up and send it off to a few people. Thing is though I've never written one and don't really know how to do it properly. I know the general idea of it. but I would like to do it right.

Can anyone help me with this? Maybe send me a mock up one or something to give me idea on how to do it?

Cheers

Ritchie Thumbs Up

I've just been on a training course where one of the topics covered was CVs. If no-ones put anything decent up I'll try and help you out on Monday.

My boss received a CV and under hobbies and interests the guy had put "exploring his sexuality" - he did not get an interview.

One thing to do is make sure it is black on white so it photocopies well and the type is not too small for the oldies to read it.

I try to stick to no more than 3 pages

Page 1 - Personal stuff and contact details - keep it of a separate page as it is then easily removed for distribution within a company.

Page 2 - start with summary of " I am great xx with x years experience" and stuff - then job history, most recent first.

Page 3 remaining jobs, education and qualifications and interests.

Dont leave any gaps in your job histroy it can lead to the the idea you were in prison.

On the footer of each page put something like..

"CV for Bilbo Baggins Page 1 of 3" then when several get dropped they end up back together

Hope this helps

Regards

Charlotte

Job history won't be too long anyway, I've been in the same company for over 10 years since leaving school. Time for a change me thinks Confused

I read some websites there and they tell you to include school grades etc. Obviously as years go on these become less important when going for a job as job training and experience are taken as more important and relevant. So do you think it is a good idea to leave my school grades out of the CV?

Thing is though if i put all my qualifications in, its about 2 pages on it's own so i'll need to cut a lot of it out.

In that case, just include all of the qualifications that are relevant to the job you are applying for.
