After fitting my new bearings into my crank case, I noticed the one started to catch slightly every 10 or so rotations, am I being overly paranoid? or is this damaged? :S

If you are talking about the crankshaft bearings, no it should,nt catch as you put it.Crank should turn smooth on bearings. Are you sure its the bearing at fault and not the crank catching somewhere .

It's just the bearing, after I'd got the bearing in, it seems to catch every now and then, It's super smooth most of the time, but I can feel it catch somewhere... I'd applied heat to the cases and eased them in with a rubber mallet and a soft drift... Brand new 6203 bearings...

EDIT: doesnt catch when I turn the crank, just when it was just the bearing in the case...

Could be a bit of grit in the bearing race. Is there any way to flush the bearing with WD40 or similar?

The bearings might not always be 100% perfect when you put them in, that's why engines have a run-in procedure. As long as the bearing is not sloppy or rough, you have nothing to worry about, it'll be worn perfectly smooth in a couple of hundred miles! Thumbs Up

If its a new bearing its probably just a bit of dirt thats snuck in there. try flushing it with a can of some light oil. whizz it round with an air hose if you have one too to help blow/spin anything out. If you cant get it running smooth, you can always replace

It's good to be cautious but the chances are that it's a tiny speck of dirt that will be flushed or crushed once the engine is running at a few thousand RPM.

What make of bearings did you fit and what was the tolerance?
