Good sunday afternoon peeps! Bloody good weather, been working through it all though, got a 3 hours break them im back there till 10pm Shocked

Just thought i would introduce myself and all that doo dah.

Im currently working my way up the bike license ladder, but ride a DNA 125 on a CBT at the mo. Going to take my restricted very soon as its been 2 years since i got my CBT. I've had the DNA since then too. Yes, you might think piece of shite, becasue its italian it is. Damned expensive parts too. £230 for a set of clocks?! Rather get done speeding, but alas, im a safe carefull rider and its easy to guess off the toy techo how fast im going.

I gave it a bit of modification last febuary:
https://www.infofeast.com/users/dup/oneimages/broken.jpg
Still looks the same now. Well, a lot worse!

I was fidding with my keys in college and i moved my keyring, resulting it getting jammed in the yoke at 80mph whilst trying to take an opposite cambered corner. The hedge wasn't very pleased to see me and for weeks i was pulling thorns out my arse.
I've also had a drive belt snap on my, locking the rear wheel at about 60mph whilst overtaking a volvo. But luckily i managed to keep it upright and get the wheel on the white line, so the tyre was ok. Thinking of money before i crashed Confused

The bikes served me well. I bought it june 2002 as a stolen recovered for £1300, 6 months old and 600 miles on the clock. The clocks gave up that winter tho. this year is MOT year. Time to do the restricted and burn the thing or sommit, hehe.

I travel about 50 miles a day to the University of Central Lancashire in Preston everyday.

If your from round there and see this cab:
https://www.duperouzel.co.uk/misc/taxeh.jpg

Give him the royal finger from he. He tried a U-Turn whilst i was filtering traffic. Pulled out the second my front wheel was level with his door. No indication or nothing. I ended up on my feet while the little dna went bam on the floor. He opened his door into it then i looked at him, he was smiling and on his mobile, like they do so i picked up my bike and moved it to the side of the road. Only snapped one of the levers ends, nothing else to break anymore!

The thing is, teo more taxi drivers showed up in no time after his call giving it large so i dumped my details and went to uni. I thought i'll leave it he might have a brain too. That weekend i get a solicitors letter. He's sueing me, claims he was stationary and perfectly positioned. Blimey... easy money for me i thought. Wrote to council bout his license, police and insurance and im now waiting to hear more.

The damage you see to the cab up there... my humble dna did that, not bad at a cost of a break lever. Dumbass. It did have bigger bike sized dents, but i took that when i found out his address a week later. One sniper bullet type hole where the center stand kicker went through, plus the outside of that is pushed in. Nasty handlebar dents on the door with scratches from the beake lever (scooter, brake lever on left Razz ), oh and i just noticed, hes got a near flat front tyre.

Bikes are the best if you have a head on your shoulders and your wits about you. I passed my driving test in december and drive mums car a lot. But i feel much safer on the DNA. Less chence of killing someone else, not bothered about myself!

Well, theres some stories for ya. Sorry for bad spelling. Late for work now!

Welcome to the forum Dup.

Sounded like a nasty accident. Damn taxi drivers really don't give a sh*t about anyone else except themselves and where their heading. Always see them creeping across the line at the traffic lights even when they know they're not going to change. Rolling Eyes And to make things worse they're either chatting away on their mobile or on their CB.

While im here, does anyone know what the law is on CB's? Wether you can use them whilst driving or not? I know lorry drivers use them but never been sure wether its legal or not.

Anyway, as I've already said, welcome aboard. Smile

I think CB's are legal, as its usually only a business/"professional" driver sort of thing, where trust has to be given on the basis of they have a business to run and money to make and drive miles and miles every day and are used to the whole thing.

I worked for my ex-fiancée's father last summer. He drives a huge lorry for silent night and we did deliveries down in essex (im from lancashire) and he had to get all his phone wired up and everything and just ditch the CB. Just to save hassle. When were actually doing the street runs your actually relaxed of wearing a seatbelt. Not that you need it in a 20 ton Scania, but when your hopping in and out a cab, shifting huge beds and jumping back in the driving 200 yards to the next door, your thankfull for it!

I live right on the begining of a national speedlimit country run. Its ace. I know it so well. Even on the DNA i can lean it nice and low and take corners with what speed i can. Opposite cambers and everything. Loads of fun! Lots of bikers out today. They love to chase my L plate heh. But for a short while i can hold them off. They like to race round here. Just anyone. one on one. Just go at it. Meet up riding along. Been caught up in a few battles before now. But these R1's etc are so still they hit a bump and shit their pants. Mostly DAS riders. I know a few older ppl bought GSXR 1000's right off a DAS and sold it the day after. Where as i push my 125 as far and low as it will go.

Got a bit blinded by the sun today, so seeing as i have the helmet compartment i don't use, i can stick my clear visor in there and wear my newly ordered smoked visor. I love Shark helmets. Just pop off the visor with ease. I love my Frank Thomas jacket too. Totally waterproof, but open the vents and they nice and cool in summer. Makes you feel less like a skinny bastard too.

Im typing a lot. Can't be good for my health!

Hope everyone here is good, happy, riding safe and madder than their uncle harry. I know i bloody am!

Hi there welcome and such like Smile

I would have thought CB's on the road whilst driving would have been illegal as you're still taking your hand off the wheel in order to use it, and thus not controlling your vehicle... Mind you, wouldn't know for sure, just know that I can't stand driver's using mobiles and such like - especially when you can get in car adaptors for a fiver now adays... Jeeze, they just need some sense! As for taxi drivers, the last time I had a run in with one was on a Bicycle... He decided to pull out of a turning, while my bike was across the bonnet - hit my back wheel, and kept going - c**t Evil or Very Mad

Well in a small village outside preston i was approaching a mini roundabout near a samll spar shop just after school kicking out time. So mummys, daddys kids and the like all over. Then i notice this metalic green volvo s40 just eating the road towards we then just hit the central reservation and hit a lampost dead centre.

He made a nice mess on his windscreen, real mess it was. All for a mobile phone call. I have no sympathy. He could have killed anyone in that area, not to mention without the lamp post it could have been me. I had to hang around for the first responders police etc, i told him what a wanker he was while he waiting to get cut out. He agreed. Might not do it again, but people shouldn't have to learn the hard way.

Strangely I think they are legal, just like police radios and the like.

All the best

Keith is right it is not illegal to use CB. Its classed as a two way radio which isn’t included in the regulation.

https://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/dft_rdsafety/documents/downloadable/dft_rdsafety_025228.doc

However, the police can prosecute under other laws. E.g. driving with out due care.

Hi,

I think the best bike\taxi driver story that I've ever heard was when a taxi driver pulled out in front of 2 bikers, causing both to slam on the brakes.

At the next set of lights 1 biker pulls up along side the drivers door of the taxi, and the other biker behind him. Both bikers then boot the taxi doors in, front biker smashes the wing mirror, then both speed off with a Middle Finger Twisted Evil Middle Finger

Funniest thing I've heard! Would be nice if someone got it on video.....

Well a mate told me his dad his mates went out riding and some taxi pulled in front of them and took them all out. Only his dad is gonna get on a bike again.

One broke his wrist, various hand bones and a rib. Another a leg. His dad was ok and another was ok. But all 3 decided enough was enough.

These stories never scare me. Im near bullet proof when it somes to cars bikes dogs kids cats and even birds flying at you, into you onto you etc. My DNA will stop well with no skid in very little space either slow or fast.

Its the ones that just do not look and don't continue to care whats going on hoping the situation will be get awayable that casue the damage. I pulled out in the car once and this Audi TT came from nowhere right up my arse pounding her brakes. Your average stutty blonde from a glance and she gave all the abuse etc. All in a 30 zone. She must have been at 50 previously. Then we took me in the 30 zone on blind bend and blasted under a narrow railway bridge and away without a care in the world.

Well couple days later im on my bike and parked outside the shop i see that TT. I had a look round and just leaned into it. That stand kicker really sticks out. Usefull heh. Well Mr2 TT can get a new paint job. Shame it wasn't metalic. Just plain black.

I just hope she comes to reality without harming innocent people. She even had a primary school age kid in with her when she was racing around. Then to give me all the abuse i didn't want to see whilst driving my mother home.. pisses me off.

Yeah, the police exercise some damn good things. Like i used to get producers every week for no reason. I used to ride home about 1-2am from Burnley to Whalley which is about 7 miles i think and id get pulled over and told to take my documents in for no reason.

I also got a parking ticket once for "Riding on the pavement". I was like i pushed it on, and you weren't there to see me. He said i know but parking it there is still at risk to pedestrians and blind pedestrains. I said they're at risk from bins, lamposts, rabid dogs and themselves. My bike aint gonna make much more risk. He just got pissed and gave the damn ticket. Appeal went though and not seen the miserable bastard since. Heh.
