Hi
I've just picked up the first 2 stroke scooter I've owned.
I know all about adding oil to the fuel (The bike I have has a separate oil tank), however do I need to add any oil to the sump ?
Cant seem to find a sump filler point so I'm inclined to assume that there is no sump oil but thought I'd check with you lot.

Hi there,

there isn't a sump on a 2 stroke, all the oiling is done via the fuel, its usually premixed at 50:1 but check with the relevent engine you have, the fuel, air and oil go into the crank case (which is how the bearings get oiled) and then transfered to the top of the piston once the ports open.

Hope this helps

Your scooter is auto lube so there is no need to mix fuel with oil (but i think you already know that!)

No oil needs to be put in the engine (sump) because it is an automatic. However all geared two strokes also need gearbox oil (obviously for the gearbox!) Your scooter will have a transmission box behind the belt cover this has oil in it but it normally never needs changing.

The gearbox has its own supply of oil and will need changing periodically.

The engine uses the oil from the oil tank, which the autolube pump will mix at the correct ratio for you. Don't add oil to the fuel in the tank.

Hey,
Yep, as said before, the oil tank indicates that the bike will add the oil itself to the fuel but if you were told by the guy you bought it from that it needs oil in the fuel there may be a problem with the oil pump...
Unless told other wise I wouldn't worry but if the pump isn't working then then engine wont last long atall...

Just thought i would mention it as no one else had.

Hope all goes well though.

Best regards
