op is implying this bike is stolen?

A lot of gumtree bikes are suspicious to say the least. Awful lot of field bikes with grinded off engine/frame numbers tend to turn up there.

Definitely £140 not a typo for £1400?

If it was his, I'd call him pretending to be a buyer, go over there to see if it really is his, then leave and phone the coppers Twisted Evil

Geeze, I thought it was obvious.

There I was cruising gumtree looking at bikes, there is some bellbag selling a CR450 for £140 with the phrase 'need a very fast sale'. My first thought is 'well that is obviously stolen'. My second thought was 'maybe I should buy it, even if it is a shitter it is only £140'. My third thought was 'F' that, any MC related crime needs to be punished, send the cops around, let them sort it out.'

I considered the £140(0) typo, however £1400 is far too much for a 'must be sold very quickly'. If it is in fact not stolen then no one gets hurt, if it is then some crim is going to get very butthurt.

It depends on what year it is - didn't make the CRF450 in 1998, which is listed.

And doubt the police will do anything.
Plenty of cases where the police have been told "that person has my stolen bike in their back garden" and they still don't do anything!

Meh, I've been offered bikes before in the pub which are clearly stolen. First time I rang the police and told them what the guys name was and a roundabout area of where his lockup was.

Next week, he's bragging what a good deal he got on the bike.

Clearly the police have better things to do?
