After a non fault accident a month and a bit ago, the bike has been written off and paid for by the 3rd party's insurers (Aviva). The only thing is, I still have the logbook. I rang my claims handler who told me Aviva should have been in contact to give me an address to send the v5 to (which they haven't). My claims handler gave me a generic Aviva address and told me it would be ok.

So I decided its probably in my best interest to double check with Aviva especially considering my tax runs out next week. So I rang Aviva and no one was of any help, kept getting forwarded to random claim teams who didn't pick up or hadn't a clue. Got through to someone today who told me to send it to a different address with a cover letter regarding who the accident was with and the letter would get forwarded.

I've had enough of ringing around and am going to send it to the address Aviva gave me but keep a photocopy for records but.. on the v5 is says 'Selling or transferring your vehicle to a motor trader, insurer or dismantler.' Should I sign this and send it to the DVLA (and send the rest of the v5 to Aviva) or send the entire v5 to Aviva?

Cheers

I assume in a salvage yard; Aviva collected it from my claims handler about 3 weeks ago.

Read what it says on the back page of the V5c - section 9:

Quote:
Do not give this section to the motor trader.

Follow the directions in that information panel.

Will it matter that the slip isn't countersigned by the insurer?

Should I still send the rest to Aviva?

Sorry for all the questions!

No it doesn't matter. Follow the instructions - fill in section 9 with the insurer's name and address and end it off to DVLA. Keep the rest until Aviva ask for it. I would actually keep hold of it until you've been settled.

All sorted, cheers Pete
