It's intentional I believe.

What would be nice is to have a little bit of javascript to make images over the maximum size 1:1 ratio when clicked on.

(Or hold ctrl while doing so in Firefox to get it to open said full size pic in a new tab Smile.)

Why is it intentional? I can't see any benefit to this, all it does is make large pics impossible to see.

Not impossible as above - and it's so people don't clog up threads with massive images I would presume.
Of course people can always just put a link to the image instead.

Doesn't work, the same menu pops up as when I don't hold ctrl.

I don't want to put a link to the image, I want the image visible immediately. Nor do I want people to have to do a google search on what kind of kung-fu keyboard combo they have to do with their particular browser to resize an image that may or may not have a full-size version available.

If it ain't broke don't fix it! Evil or Very Mad

You hold control as you click - standard option to open what ever you're doing in a new tab.

For some it certainly was broken before. There was already limits on image width - I suspect height was just an oversight.

No, it's broken now.

I am holding ctrl as I click and it isn't working! Brick Wall

For you, yes; but not everyone likes massive long images.

What version of firefox?
Just tried again - right click, hold ctrl while left clicking on 'view image' and it opens in a new tab.
