Evening all,

I've got an autocom system on the way, and I was wondering if anyone knows how I can rig up an fm radio to this? Or if anyone has done it themselves? The only result I can get off ebay is this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-Motorcycle-Stereo-Radio-FM-MP3-iPod-2-Speakers-/260839961146?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3cbb45f23a#ht_2636wt_1037

Cheers

Wouldn't use any form of headphones, radio, ipod or otherwise.
Need to keep my concentration for the road.

I like to have just such things because if I don't I find myself trying to occupy my full 'concentration' with my riding, which leads to me going a tad too fast on long motorway journeys etc.

Reception wasn't amazing, but when I got bored of the 8 songs I'd managed to download on to my mp3 player on a trip a while ago, I bought a £3.50 radio from tesco and stuck it somewhere on the front of the bike; did the job ok.

I wouldn't go for something with speakers; any distance travelling I'd expect there to be enough wind noise to not make it worth it; and will annoy others in town.

Nah; I've always been old Razz.

Ok, I have no problem annoying people if it's worth it; wheelies yes, having to have your radio on 5 times as loud because you've got an insulated box around your head, no Smile.

Laughing

It's only for a few seconds though. Not like a car that sits in traffic with the stereo on max..

(Although if it is music I like I tend to have a little dance at the lights to show my appreciation for the tunage.. Cool )

Autocom have jacks and leads to connect to everything but the kitchen sink. I have an Autocom kit I got years ago and never fitted.
I use a BT collar in the helmet now which has built in FM receiver (that is Pissssssh.)
Mobile phones will connect to the Autocom unit by a dedicated cable supplied by Autocom (at an exorbitant cost). Depending on the phone you may be able to tune and listen to the FM receiver and accept/make calls via the VOX facility.
You could speak to one of the twats at Autocom see if they can encourage any interest in what you want to do. They lost the plot a bit by sticking to the 'hard wired' systems where you are tied to the bike unless you remember to un-plug. BT wins in all departments now.

Thanks for your help everyone, by the looks of it this £4 jobby from asda plugged into one of the aux sockets on the autocom should do the trick?

Not sure that radio will have an Aux-out?

Though it'll be more fiddly to use with gloves, I'd be tempted to use something like this - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270965926304 - also, have you checked to see if your phone has a radio?

Last time I tried my phones radio it was beyond useless, I think it uses the headphones as the Arial, so im tempted by a portable one with a metal aerial

The problem with using a cheap FM radio to play music etc on a bike is that you will occasionally have to manually retune. buying something with DAB should save you manually retuning
There are bike specific 12v chinese radios on Evilbay for around £20 that are small enough to mount on the bars.
