Hi guys,
Hope someone is able to help or give some suggestions.

I have a Kawasaki ZR7-S, Rode it for the first time last night and it felt and sounded fine. Started first time with no extra throttle so ignition was fine.
Went to the petrol station to have a fill up and again started perfectly.

The problem I'm having started this morning: I started the bike with the choke as it has been cold, started fine. After a bit closed the choke and it sat idling fine (sounded a little rough/coughy but still ran), but when i tried to move off and the rev's hit anywhere close to 3k revs the engine just splutters and dies. This happens whether its in either N or 1st.

Please be gentle with me as this is my first bike bigger than a 125cc, and I dont have one single brain cell with any mechanical knowledge.

Did you need fuel as it was on reserve? If you dont have a filter then reserve will take the fuel from the bottom of the tank so the shit will get into the carbs. Think 2.5 - 3k is around where the jets change from pilot to main. You need a carb clean.

Or, you have been a twat and put diesel in the bike

Thanks for your reply, I've definatly not put diesel in (would it even start/run if I had? Just curious).
The bike was very low on fuel, and has had the same low level of fuel since 4th April when I took delivery of the bike. I only passed my MOD1 & MOD2 on Wednesday so that evening was the first time i had started/ridden the bike, which as i have said was to the petrol station then home.

I did think that when refuelling i could have stirred up all the crap then its settled over night and blocked something, which is stopping enough fuel getting to the engine when it needs it at higher rev's.

Having a look on ebay for fuel taps. Look at this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KAWASAKI-ZR7-2000-PETROL-FUEL-GAS-TAP-LEVER-/380408152173?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item589217c06d

You do have a filter on each. See the smaller filter to the right? Good chance that is missing or fallen off as it just pops in place. If it has then good chance the shit has got down to your carbs. Try riding your bike in res, then on and even try prime as if its ok with one of these then your tap is at fault. The filter might have just folded in on itself and part bloking the fuel flow. If that is the case then bin the in tank filter and buy a in line one for a few quid. another thing is the tank air breather is part blocked and air not getting in fast enough. You can try riding it with the cap open and if it runs fine then the breather wants looked at.

If you still have the problem after that i think you need to get the spanners out and get cleaning out the carbs.

By the way, do you have a 5 or 6 speed box? Im thinking that engine will fit my bike.

I'll try running it with the cap open tomorrow and see if that helps at all. I've got the garage i got it from collecting on Saturday as well now (Only just remembered to check my emails, Lol) so i think ill get them to clean the carbs for me, and have a look for anything else to.

Also I have on my bike a 5 Speed box.

I had a similar problem with a sticky choke cable.
