Just put the battery back on the bike after taking it off to give it a full charge, turned the key and waited for the bike to do the usual checks, when that was done I hit the starter and a crackling/ticking noise came from under the seat and the lights dimmed...

Checked the fuses ( coloured ones ) and they're alright, could it be the starter solenoid ?...

The bike is an SV 1000 S...

Good connection on the battery? Did it definitely charge?

Connections are tighter than a ducks arse, the battery is 50/50 even though the optimate is saying it's charged and bang on, going to try a new battery first, will pick one up either tomorrow or Friday ( I need to as the MOT's booked for Saturday )...

I'll report back when the new ones on...

*Cheers Bomb, I'd just found out what it could be and was coming back in here to delete the thread but as you've posted, I've replied... Thumbs Up

Embarassed Yeah, new battery, charged, sorted it Embarassed

I sometimes have a tendancy to think the worst when it's something simples, had a feeling it was the battery but when I heard the clicking/ticking I thought I blown something expensive, give me an engine and I'll strip and rebuild it, give me three pieces of wire and I'm fucked...

Started her up in the garage, forgetting I was in there, cue lights going on and people appearing in windows, new neighbourhood you see, they've all been sound so far, they're all thinking ' Well fuck, there goes the piece and quiet '...

I'd forgotten how loud it was myself tbh, nearly shit myself, sounds like Thor having an angry wank Twisted Evil

Hahaha Very Happy
I had similar over the winter, was thinking crap, starters dying, looms fooked - anything but battery. Swapped it out and ping! Starts every time first tap.
That said, not at the minute, think I need to pull it out and get it on the optimate over the weekend.

The Optimate first told me it was sound after an hour which is why I turned it off and started it again, then it said it was fucked, so I started again, after a few hours charge it was fine so I put it back on the bike and it started this thread...

But it's now sound and going like a two bob tart doing a two for one special... Thumbs Up
