Can't quite rememberr if it was Canada, but a few years ago shoes, started washing up on a beach round there, with peoples feet in them, cut off at the ankle. At first they though it was a deranged killer. But when a few washed up that were only available in Thailand, they realised that they were the feet of the victims washed out to see, and then

The bodies were eaten by crabs and fish, but since the foot was in the shoe and not much meat in there, they were just left to float around in the currents.
