Our companies two main contractors that we work for have gone into receivership. We've lost like 40 odd thousand pounds and now staff are being laid off.. our company will most prob survive through this despite the loss but it does mean we'll be losing staff and so on...

I reckon I got about a week...

we'll see Wink Laughing

It'll be a pain now as I don't want to leave now as I've just started on an A+ course in IT so my plan was to finish that and get a job repairing PCs etc. But I'm only like 20% of the way through this course so if I am one of those that gets laid off then it's a bit of an arse.

But when it comes down to it.. I don't really care Wink

Sorry to hear that mate - I got made redundant twice in 6 months a while back and although it sucks (specially coz of your course) I've found things always work out for the best.
Try looking at it as a fresh start - hope you get a decent payout too, that always helps!
Good luck Thumbs Up

You should be OK with the A+ course, but it'll never teach you to fix or build PC's, so don't expect a job at the end of it.
What you could really do with is an apprentice-ship or traineeship as they will get you a lot further a lot quicker

oeerr Dean thought the A+ would be good enough to get me a technician job some where Crying or Very sad

Thanks for that, think I might look into some sort of apprenticeship possibly, either that or get a part time job and just do a few more IT courses after this A+

I was made redundant on my last job ,but I didn't even get paid my wages let alone any pay outs Neutral (although the £400 of power tools I er.. "borrowed" before the receivers came in kind of make up for that Wink )

I doubt very much that I'll get a pay out from here if I'm made redundant, in fact if they decide to let me go I know they have enough on me to sack me so that'll save them from a redundancy pay out.

sound's ominous Yams, better get studying and start searching for jobs now, see what people are looking for(e.g cert's experiencing)
The biggest problem is saturation, there are load's of people out there looking for IT jobs so you need to have an edge. The A+ on it's own isn't gonna guarantee a job, but it might give you the edge to getting an interview if they want someone with those skills.

There's no substituter for experience, but you can't buy that so you have to make up for it as best as you can with anything else.

Concentrate on getting a really good CV, I have interviewed before, and often I know before I'm even half way down the first page if I'm going to give the candidate consideration.
Check out the job end 'tune' your CV to highlight what they want to see, and the skills you have to offer.

A boring CV may as well be blank.

Everything happens for a reason, dude. Even if it drops you in the shit, something better will come eventually. Sometimes you just have to be a little patient.

Oh f**k I sound like a hippie! Shocked
