just bought an 05 speedfight 100cc, its supposed to be the catalyst version but has a pm tuning exhaust on it, is the exhaust the only difference compared to the older models? because im looking for a new variator but theres catalyst and non catalyst versions but dont know if its just the rollers to suit the version or if the whole variator is a different size or fitting..

all help appreciated Smile

The rollers on the cat model are larger than earlier models. However if you're replacing the whole variator then it shouldnt matter which version you buy aslong as when you sell it on/or buy new rollers you or the buyer knows which sized rollers to buy.

Correct. But get the corresponding drive belt for the variator you wish to use too!

Don't buy the Malossi Multivar, as i think it was a big waste of money and i never got my transmission set up as well as std with this variator and either a std or Kevlar belt, both of which wear quickly on a tuned SF100.

For the PM exhaust i think you possibly need 1g lighter rollers? and fit a new belt every 2000km IMO. You can also get some slightly stronger clutch springs, but with the exhaust i had they were not strong enough, so i never got a decent take off like a std one would.

The PM pipe if in good condition is about the best pipe overall you can put on the Pug 100cc. It should add 2bhp and 5-6mph, which is the best value tuning mod and the only tuning mod i would ever reccomend on one of these. Further mods do very little for them, and bear in mind a decent liquid cooled sports 50cc scoot with a 70cc kit and pipe will always kick the living daylights out of the SF100 on acceleration, and top speed.

Leave it std and enjoy the cheap running costs IMO.

thanks for that Smile i know its not going to be mega fast, its nippy as it is in its shagged state anyway, in the morning i should have a new polini clutch, an athena variator, a new dual stage filter rather than this crappy fake k&n and a polini drive belt, think thats all im gonna do other than maybe a new doppler exhaust then jet it all to suit, then just make it look ooooohhhh so pretty Cool lol, i love geared bikes, but mopeds are just so different, and u can enjoy them more, enjoy the ride more too.. its just so simple, im not one for all out racing, just like the power when its there for if needed
