I have an SR 125, I use it mainly as a run about bike to get to and from work, my chain got a bit loose so I went to tighten it and as I knocked the chain adjuster round it kept slipping out of the 'nipple'. As you can see from the photos below they have started to wear away at both sides and now don't hold the chain adjuster in place which means I can't tighten my chain, it's not a part I can just swap so what can be done about it? I took it in to a garage and they said the chain adjuster wasn't straight so they charged me an hours labour to straighten it and said it had worked but never bothered to tighten my chain (which was the whole point of taking it in), so I tried to no avail it still to tighten it but it still has the same problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

The adjuster cams can be replaced cheaply enough, but you might have to drill-out the pegs and replace them with something more substantial.

A local garage should be able to weld a suitable dowel in place, but you might have to remove the swingarm and clean it up a bit.

If there's no more adjustment left, it might be time for a new chain anyway.

If the front and rear sprockets are standard - did the chain have the right number of links when it was fitted?

I don't think the chain should have stretched that much in 3,000 miles!

If the chain appears to be in good condition, maybe you could just remove a link or two - after getting those worn pegs replaced.
