 |
|
Just wondered if anyone can advise how much concern I should have about a bike that shows up as having no data when I checked the reg at mymotorcyclecheck.com, although the seller says it's been kept in a spare room for 26 years. First registered 1980 and 4700 on the clock. I don't know how and when hpi data gets added to the database. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Motorcycle-CB250-Special-/221014933881?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item3375844179
Haven't quizzed the seller yet, and would need to go see it pretty soon. |

do the ebay HPI check and see, some don't come up on records as they have been off the road for so long, but do another HPI check elsewhere.
Is that really a special CB250? Did Honda even do a special?! Doesn't look like a ltd edition at all. |

True, true.

Basic & very simple research tells me that the bike was first registered on the 15/09/1980, the last road tax expired on the 01/06/1983. I might be paranoid but there is math in there somewhere that simply does not add up. |
Where do you do that research?
Yes, the maths doesn't add up in that there are more than 26 years in between '83 and now, but it's possible the other years just haven't been mentioned - you might kind of forget what it did for 3 years before 26 years ago.

I wouldn't touch it with someone else's bargepole, it's already at £690 with 4 days to go. |
Hehe, £725 now and still reserve not met - yes, I'd not touch it with yours now.
Certainly does - I thought if it stayed cheap I might take a punt, but the first job - if it actually ran - would be to get spare tank and plastics, anything tatty would do, and store the stupid black and silver in the loft until I sell it.

There's an awful lot to be said for continuous use, not least that I can take a bike out for a test ride. |
