Anyone happen to know if the RAC would recover you if you have a breakdown on track? I'm sure they wouldn't from a timed event but I'm not sure about trackdays.

Obviously the bike would have to be road legal to get towed and I'm aware that I could easily move it out onto a public road if need be but I'm just curious.

If they don't I bet they get a suspiciously large number of breakdowns on the roads just outside racetracks Laughing

I know that's an option but at many tracks that could be well over a mile. Not that much of a ballache but it'd be nice to know if you can just call them to the paddock although chances are someone can chuck it in their van for you anyway.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

The RAC are wankers.

I was in north wales and I had a problem with my new chain, phoned the RAC, they sent a patrol in a transit van.
I said the softlink was a bit sketchy, i didnt want to ride it and the rivets needed spreading out fully.

the patrol said "we dont have that tool, but ill give it a bash."
He fucked the chain up good and proper.

I said you are gonna need to get that recovered to my house, its not ride-able etc etc

long story short, RAC said i would have to pay for it as it was a "bodge job" in the 1st place, arguments, etc etc. 55quid to get the bike recovered.

The RAC dont have any motorbike mechanics, they are skilled in jumpstarting and putting fuel in tanks.

Why send a patrol who has no clue about motorbikes to a stranded motorbike?

Fuck the RAC.

Sounds like I'd need to push it then or get a lift.

This hasn't ever actually happened yet, just wondering as sooner or later it's bound to and I ride to all my trackdays. To be fair, you could call them to the paddock and say you had just been there to spectate and it broke down in the car park. Obviously BS but they could hardly prove it and it'd be equally suspicious to be broken down just outside the entrance anyway.

Of course binning it would be another issue and I'm not sure whether I'm covered for accident recovery anyway Confused

Also curious what would happen if I broke down whilst greenlaning...technically I'd be on a public road but not sure they would get a van to me easily Laughing

I broke down in Spain on the way to morocco last year due to a failed main bearing on the crank, manged to get the bike back on to a ferry going back to portsmouth which l rolled the bike off at the other end and pushed it to a petrol station just outside the port, I then called the AA up while pretending to be my cousin as l have no breakdown cover saying l had broken down while out for a ride in portsmouth and got recovered back home to London.

And you are worrying about trackdays. Laughing
