Hi all!
Been a lurker on here for a while, decided to register to benefit from all your years of combined knowledge Smile
I'm an ex-pat from the UK who lives in New Zealand now.

I have a problem with a 1979 Yamaha YB100!
She runs absolutely beat, but my front headlight is EXTREMELY dim. I know YB's are notorious for their 6v electrics being absolute shite, but I'm sure my light should be a little brighter than this. It barely lights up, as in the filament just glows a dim reddish colour.

I've tried absolutely bloody everything with the thing (to the extent of my knowledge!) and I just cant get it to get any brighter. It does perk up a tiny tiny bit when you rev up the bike, but still nothing like my neighbours Suzuki A100's headlight.

All the other electrics are fine as in the indicators, horn, brake light goes from the back brake (front brake doesnt connect to the light), and the tail light also barely lights up (in a similar fashion the the headlight).

I know for a fact its not my bulbs and yes all the bulbs in it are definitely 6v too, as I know this is a common mistake.
Also all my connections seem to be clean.

Its driving me up the wall cause I really want to it for a Warrant of Fitness (N.Z's MOT) and this is the only thing thats stopping it from passing.

PLEASE HELP! Razz

Thanks for reading

It could be a dodgey earth, I think. When you say you've tried everything, have you checked all your connections? That's the first thing I'd do.

Earth seems to be fine, will double check though in the morning, Rolling Eyes and yeah all the connections seem to be fine also, as the light does light up but barely that's all. I'm sure it should be a lot brighter. It glows a very dim pink. Crying or Very sad
