.
.
That I really needed to replace this bearing or could I have just mixed a paste of flour and water whacked it in and stuck it back together. Wink

I knew I was having some new tyres fitted and I had discovered that the rear sprocket had more movement in it than a whores hips.!

I suspected that on removal of the rear wheel that the whole thing would collapse so I had also pre ordered a set of rear bearings to have at hand. The wheel bearings were actually OK but as I had them and the wheel was off I also swapped them.

I knew the rear sprocket bearing was not going to be in good order but did not think it was going to be that bad. Laughing

Don't 'chew me out' for letting it get this bad as the bike is new to me. Thumbs Up

Oh yes indeedy.! Embarassed

I actually did not find the missing offending spheres. Would have thought they would have been in the area of the cush drive with no obvious way for them to have escaped. .......... AWOL rascals. Rolling Eyes

Shocked

Was it noisy at all?

Or just had loads of play in the sprocket?

No, which is surprising.!

The 'play' was obviously left - right and I noticed it last week when I was cleaning the bikes chain for the first time.

Not really surprising. The carrier rides on the bearing but is also held quite firmly by the cush drive rubbers.

Yeah I take your point. Smile

The cush drive did also look to have taken a bit of a pounding but there feels to only have a small amount of rotational play in it when its all reassembled.

The bike is certainly less 'Kicky & notchy' (best description I can think of) when setting off and changing gear.
