So first and foremost let me say i always wear my bike stuff when going to work an that. So today i get home from work get all my gear off and then think shit i need to go the shop. So i thought fuck will just go in me trackies get to to the shop only to get a big speech of some power ranger about gear and shit while he is tut tutting away i just thought to myself i do more miles in a week than your toy does all year fuck off. Where do these people get the idea they can act all superior cuz they got alpine fucking stars on rant over.

I personally wouldn't ride in trackies, would probably put some jeans on...

BUT

I wouldn't have a go at someone for doing it. Let's be honest, nobody, even the most retarded ped boi, rides a bike with trackies/tshirt/no gloves etc thinking "everything will be just fine if I come off wearing this, it won't hurt at all"

I don't care really, what people wear is their business. I don't even think it should be a legal obligation to have a helmet.

I think we as bikers should take some responsibility for our own safety, every pull out or SMIDSY is apparently the cars fault.

We make a choice to ride a bike which is dangerous we should also make the choice to protect ourselves as much as possible.

Yes I do have a high vis vest, and no I have never ridden in "trackies" what ever they are. Rolling Eyes

You were a tit, sounds like the other guy was a bit too. But you need to get over yourself!

Totally depends on the speed of the off, and the jeans you have on. IMO every biker should get some kevlar jeans for times like this, they're as abrasion resistant as leathers but nowhere as much of a pain In the arse to put on...

I have rode in shorts, army boots, t shirt and no helmet or gloves. Then again I hit a wall and ripped my arm open to the bone in leathers 10 yards from my front door.

A few years ago the local plod sat in a lay-by on a main road and pulled every biker to have a 'chat' about the importance of riding kit - regardless of if they were wearing it at the time. Confused

Why restrict it to the middle of summer? I did it for most of last year Wink I did get a helmet after the first fortnight and wore it most of the time.

Personally I always wear my kit.

Lid
Jacket
Trousers
Gloves
Boots

Even if I'm popping to the shop. Partly because if I don't I think it looks stupid and like I either don't belong on the bike or it looks like I've just nicked it. Partly because I'm shit scared of coming off and full gear makes me feel invincible. And mostly because it's warm and dry and our unpredictable, bullshit excuse for a weather forecast is never right so I'm well and truly prepared.

Thats great. I've no problem with that....as long as people dont preach to me about what i should wear. For the record, i wear a jacket, gloves and helmet most of the time. Occasionally wear trousers if im goin on a long one and sometimes go without a jacket if its bloody hot or im doin a quick journey. Sure, that means im not 100% protected 100% of the time but overall its reduced my chance of serious injury or death by a good amount whilst not making it all really annoying.

Lid and gloves with an airflow is minimum for me.

Its not how fast I'm going that bothers me, it's the speed of the car that will inevitably plough into me.
