I get the feeling this will be the first in many MANY posts with problems that I need a bit of help with.... but here goes anyway.

I'll let the picture do the talking first
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v320/andy36586/frontendtwisted.jpg

Now I've loosened all the bolts holding the forks in place, loosened the head, gave it a damn good pull into shape and tightened it all up again and this was how it resettled.

I've jacked up the front end (pain in the arse to do), so had no weight on there, but the right side (in the picture as viewed), started to creep up and I had to bash it back down with a rubber mallet.

So please explain to me like a 5 year old how to straighten this out... please.

On a more serious note.......... its hard to be sure from the pic, but it does look like the bottom yoke is twisted or bent. It would certainly explain the forks wanting to do their own thing. Easiest way to check is to drop the steering stem and bottom yoke out, and sit them on a piece of plate glass - that should show up whether there is a problem.
Hopefully its not the frame/headstock thats twisted. Do you know if the bike has been crashed?

If you fit just the forks in the bottom yoke are they parralel with each other? If not, it is likely twisted. (So no axle / wheel / top yoke etc.)

They can be straightened;
https://www.motoliner.com/motorcycle-fork-yoke-straightening.php#yokes

But might be easier to just get another bottom yoke of ebay or the like.

It could ofcourse be bent forks, especially if the bike was in an accident.

First off yes that is a home made skate board (was intended to hold the engine but it tilts too much)....

As far as the forks and attached parts are concerned, yes it was involved in a shunt... it's a Cat C... but when I bought it it was in this shape:

So whatever is going on is something that has happened during the strip and rebuild by me.... I've tried brute force (maybe not enough), but it either wants to pop up at one side or sit like that..

Maybe someone used brute force to get it all straight before you got it?

Looking at that I'd say you have bent forks or yokes.

Try losening everything, stand with the front wheel between your legs and move the handlebars untill everything is inline. Get a mate to tighten stuff while you hold it.
