What does everyone think of the new Yamaha R1? I watched a review on it on men+motors and i really like the bike, the old R1 was really nice but the new 2004 R1 looks even better. Has anyone tried one of these bikes out yet? From what i saw of it i would say it's probally one of the niceist bikes on the road.

cant say many people have ridden it yet, but superbike magazine have just done a 1000cc class test...the new r1 won the test...so thats probably a fair bit of insight in to the bike

Probably something to do with the minor storm in the USA with the guys R1 wrecking its crank when new without even finishing running in.

All the best

Kar Lee (is that how you spell it?) seemed to be enjoying the 2004 R1 at Cadwell when we did our trackday.
He said it was fantastic fun being the only few people in the final session (I think there were 5 of us on the track, until nige decided he prefered the mud) and commented on how just riding the new R1 had made him so much quicker than normal.

Hi Stew

Seems you managed to find one of the few in focus pictures I took that day.

All the best

Personally I think they are the best looking of the new 1000's and by the amount I've seen around recently they seems to be the most popular. Havn't even seen a zx10r yet.

They were the first to go on general sale, so have been snapped up by FWB's and a few proper bikers.
I don't think the ZX10 and Blade are on Mass sale as yet, but will probably do excellent when they are.

The Blade and ZX10 are on sale, although I don't think they have been for long. I've seen one of each on the roads and they were both yesterday.
