Fantastic bike!
I love rare and obscure European 125's, as they did so much more with them than the Japanese. I mean it took Yamaha until about 2005 to do an easy development of the DTR into a Supermotard, and no one else bothered!
Cagiva had the Supercity in around 1991/92, and Gilera brought out the Freestyle around the mid 90's? KTM made the gorgeous 125 Sting in 97? so a bit of a while later, but it took Yamaha nearly 10years more to put the same engine into a Motard of their own?
Anyway the Fantic Strada looks really cool, and has a nice late 80's look to it! It looks quite similar to the Laverda LB125, and the Beta 125sport too!
I wonder if it was built using a watercooled development of the 125 trials bike engine? The engine does look quite alot like the Trials units they made.
Maybe Keith will know, but all i know is that there is not enough info and pics out there for some of the small Italian off road manufacturers devlings into the road bike market.
Shame Fantic folded up eventually, as i always thought their trials bikes were really cool looking and so much more high tech than the TY175 i had to compete on lol! |

Thank's for comments
My Fantic Strada engine is a " evolution of the trial bikes engines" and new Fantic trials have very similiar engines, and my bike is one of the rare sport (non trial) fantic.
By the way what do you think about my modifications planes? I'm going to build my own vision bike, some kind of cafe racer, ktm racebikes, in italy bikes style Rear wheel and swingarm is from aprilia af1, and I want put af1 front- wheel and USD forks.
Engine will be modified for more power (55-60HP), I must do some porting and made expansion chamber.
I'm waiting for opinion |
