Thought I'd better get up some pictures of my new bike. It's a 2001 GSXR 600 K1, when I bought it last month it already had quite a few bits on it:

Datatool Veto alarm
Blueflame Evo can
Goodridge braided brake lines
Pyramid undertray, hugger and tail tidy.
Mini carbon indicators and LED rear light
Race rearsets
Single seat cowl and Pirelli Diablo Stradas front and rear.

Still wanted a few more add ons though so bought some Renthal Medium grips and chinky Pazzo levers:

Fitted them, big improvement over the originals:

https://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s231/Ghostbwarp/IMAG0030.jpg

Also downgeared it -1 on the front and +2 on the back, with a Renthal front sprocket, Talon rear and DID gold X ring chain:

https://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s231/Ghostbwarp/IMAG0028.jpg

Have got a Speedo Healer V4 to fit yet as well as a Scotoiler, haven't got round to it yet though I'm going to do them both at once. Would also like to fit a louder exhaust can as I'm not keen on the look or noise of this one, but I might see if I can cut it down into a stubby as it's riveted at the ends, we'll see!

Went for a spin today as the weather was nice round some local roads, stopped near the lake at Beddgelert for a few better pictures!

My phone struggles a bit with lighting sometimes so this didn't come out quite how I fancied!

Still a nice view and a good ride, scrubbed the new back tyre in now so there's not much chicken strip left, with the new chain and sprockets I'm getting the hang of 2nd gear clutch wheelies every quiet straight I get so hopefully won't be too long before I'm comfy doing the standups on it Smile

So have I, wanted a 750 or a thou really but stuck a bid on this on the offchance and was pleasantly surprised when I actually won it! With the different sprockets it's a lot punchier than the Kwak, runs smoother, has a better top end and is cleaner and nicer to ride and look at. I'll put up with it being the wrong colour for all that Wink

With referance to your new gearing how easy does it come up in comparison to standard?

My C1H has standard gearing atm and is a bit of a nightmare to pull up. I'm more than happy to lose some MPH to gain a bit of extra boost but does it help much would you say?

Obviously it's not a direct comparison as the Suzuki is up on power from the zx6r and its lighter, but the ninja just would not even think of going in 2nd. Initially it would just take off with the front staying down, then i fitted a 43t r mear sprocket so 3 teeth bigger and that caused the clutch to slip. I put an EBC fast road clutch in then but even standing on the pillion pegs and bouncing it up while dumping it nearly from the limiter it just took off like a scalded cat with the front feeling a bit light.

In comparison the one less tooth on the front of this has made a huge difference, it still needs a lot of commitment to lift in 2nd but with my weight back in the seat a bit ive popped it up a few feet at about 40 in 2nd no probs. Stillgetting the hang of it again cos ive had abit of a break from riding but it feels like itd be all too easy to flip it in 2nd if i tried too hard!

So yeah in summary, definitely do it it will give you much more confidence learning. I put my c&s kit together for £110 i think it was, and if youre a fanny like me £23 on the knock off pazzo levers is worth doing as well, they look awesome, really well made and nice quality, and the reach adjustment on the clutch lever is invaluable for getting it dialled in right for wheelies!

I had one just like that.

Loved that engine.

However, it's a K1 with K2 mirrors on it, and they're pointing to the sky, they don't fit properly.

I tried to do it to mine with the same issues, so they went in the bin.

Your lying. Please stop.

Yeah well it's the 636 model ninja I have mate, 05 plate so it's got plenty of UMPH and I can get the front up slightly off power but when I clutch it It doesn't come up. Think it might just be me atm not having masses of confidence with the front end being up.

Hadn't realised the mirrors were different, but now you mention it, they do seem to be pointing upwards quite a lot to give me the best view! Might have to find a picture of a K1 with the proper mirrors to see if it's worth getting them or not.

And Shaane, when I said my bike was up on power on the Ninja I meant my old G2, your 636 should be a lot better than this! The first thing that always strikes me when I try doing a clutch wheelie on a new bike is how aggressive you've got to be with it, and how violently and quickly everything happens! You've really got to be nailing it quite hard in 2nd, then shift your arse right to the back of the seat, grab a load of clutch right in to the bar, and snap it out while pulling back. Then you've just got to hold on and try not to shit yourself!

be a bit more aggressive with the throttle/clutch and it'll jump up no problem.

Yup, I can tell you now if you roll along in 2nd at 30mph, shift your bum to the back, clutch all the way in and rev it right up to the limiter, then just dump the clutch out your bike will flip over. So you've just got to figure out the balance to get it to come up nicely without being too scary. I'm still learning again myself so I'm no expert, but find a quiet industrial estate and keep trying harder and harder acceleration when you're flicking the clutch in and you'll get there eventually!
