MAG are more active, but regional representation is more patchy.
BMF are less 'focussed' or outspoken, probably do more, but seen to do less. Better regional coverage, but, often not that bothered about recruiting.
Depends what you want 'out'.
If you want to spend some conscience money, and that's about all, give it to MAG, they used to have viluntary contribution to the 'fighting fund' and promice all contribution was 100% spent on active lobbying.
If you want insurance perks, discount rally tickets, advanced training, join BMF.
Thing is both are 'umbrella' groups. Lots of Rider or Rally clubs are BMF 'affiliated', ie joining say, Fosse-Riders Motorcycle Rally Club, you are in effect Joining the BMF as an 'affiliate' member; part of your sub goes to the BMF for the clubs affiliatship, and part of that thence to thier campaign fund. But YOU get the benefits of roots level 'events', ride-outs, rally's, meets, social evenings etc, plus the club negotiated perks from local businesses or whatever, THEN the stuff offered by BMF, like cheaper tickets to the National BMF Rally.
Not so sure so many roots clubs are MAG affiliated, they tried to be more 'independent' and have tried to BE grass roots AND umbrella active.... practicality tends to be you find that a local Rally-Club exec will also be local MAG rep....
Best of both? Join local active grass-roots BMF affiliate for perks; join MAG for concience money? ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
