What CBR? Is it the one where the one main fault is the rectifier which kills/drains the batt?

Might be worth investigating?

May be talking out of my arse but I think its still a potential problem on that. It seems to plague a lot of Honda bikes full stop. If your battery keeps draining its worth looking into.

Here you go, covered before

^^ It is a common fault yes.

I've had it with my 1991 FM model.

I've had to replace my recitfier once to correct it, as replacing another battery didn't cure it.

I've also had to replace the battery, same as you, bike just cut out, turns out it was just the battery that needed replacing rather than the rectifier again.

To know if it's charging, when you're at idle, rev the bike, if the headlight increases brightness to normal then you know it's charging and it was just the battery.

If you haven't already got one, get a optimate (trickle charger) for it.

Get a multi meter as above my CBR FM killed the battery as the recitfier went tits up allowing it to over charge the battery,

friend of mine cooked his ecu rev counter and battery because of the same fault Wink

Dont buy a cheap chiness piece of crap tho go Honda Wink

If it is just battery then you had a cheap fix Wink

I've heard of owners using Yamaha rectifiers in their NC30s and what not - might be worth looking into for the CBR, rather than buying a Honda unit that 'could' go just as wrong in the future.

People use r1 recs on hornets. You need to change the plug though.

Have you "deffo" ruled out the reg/rec? By putting a multimeter on it? You can get one for £3.55 delivered (UK stock) on eBay, that's a heck of a lot cheaper than cooking your new battery.
