My mother-in-law is ill, very ill. For the past 4 years she's been in hospital at about this time of year for pretty much the same thing, only this time, her family have been called back to the hospital (today) because her conditions seem to be just getting worse.
So my thoughts are with my partner and his family who are having to deal with the stresses of the situation, and here's hoping my second mom will come through this once again. Pale

When did BCF become Facebook?

Hope she gets well soon, but FFS why the random thread?!

Def not FB JonB.

She will not get well. She's dying, but thanks for that we glimmer of
sympathy.

Well all the best to her, not easy for the family and I don't mind someone posting about things like this, beats stories of dragging riderless bikes around without noticing.

EDIT: also if a family member just needs to talk about it to help them through it, then is that not what auntie BCF is for?

Depends we all have shit to deal with in life, (trust me, lots has gone on for me this year and is currently ongoing) but we keep it private.

An expectation for sympathy on a random forum for someone nobody knows is IMO strange.

If posted under random etc I would agree, but in Auntie I believr it to be in the relevent place. Granted it is a post which you need to look beyond the words, reading it I see a family in distress and the post coming from a "in law" who isn't being fully acccepted into the grieving, instead being expected to be strong and supportive to the immediate family members. As such she needs a bit of outside support.

Or maybe I read too much into it Doh!

I had no expectation for sympathy at all. I just needed to get it vented and out the way, much the same as all those soon-to-be excited motorcyclists posting thier future tests or those poor ones that post thier failings. Feeling much less anxiety since I did the post, therefore I can be a safer biker. Thanks for your support no matter what form it takes. Smile

One could argue being on a motorbike forum whilst not owning a motorbike, indeed for several years, is equally as strange. Wink

I don't have to explain why I disagree, I just do.

I will though because I rarely downvote posts that are not spam.
She didn't ask a question, just posted something a bit sad.
The OP wants sympathy from a bunch of random people who don't know them.

So the reason you disagree with my post is because the OP never asked a question? You think she wants sympathy?Bullshit, if she wanted sympathy she would have been telling us the effects it was having on her and family rather than simply stating the facts. Give her a break, its a difficult time and she probably just wants somewhere she can vent steam or let out her feelings.

Not directed at you directly Artist, but sometimes the average age of some posters is glaringly obvious by the lack of empathy.

Laughing So me disagreeing with your post somehow displays my lack of empathy?

Do you think I will gain more as I age?

Now I am thinking you are older than I thought, as your failing eyesight must be the reason for you misinterpreting a statement which specifically says it is not directed at you, and possibly to blame for the memory loss meaning you forgot to even reply to the post

I'm glad that you were able to vent, sometimes it is all you need to help you be able to help others.

very sorry to hear of anyone passing away and I hope she was ok when she went if you know what I mean.

As for the end of the story...... well it isn't............. there may be some family upset over this and that, there will be some history telling and I'm also sure that some will find it hard to come to terms with the loss.

Yeah, I know, and thanks. But no more venting unless I need to.
