Old git here, first 'bike in 1976 (fantastic summer to be a teenager), temporary suspension of riding in the early 1990s (usual excuses: family, house etc). Invested my hard-earned shekels on kitcars, TVRs (same thing?) and interesting elderly Brit classic cars in the intervening 20 years.

But the itch never dies, bought an FZR600R last summer, seems flawless compared to the stuff I used to ride (AJS, various RDs, GT Suzukis, GS550, FZ750). Or maybe I'm an old git who can only trundle..

Welcome to Bike Chat Forum.

They're pretty friendly on here and if you ever need to know anything (not that you would, as you have more experience than most of us here) thay are very useful. You only have to ask.

I'm on an enforced break from biking as was knocked off my gixer, when the driver didn't look and turned into me.

Hi Micky,

I'm in a very similar position - rode bikes pretty much every day from 8yrs old (mini mx) through to my late twenties (a teen in the eighties) and then focussed upon work, moving back to the UK, getting married, buying a house etc and last summer I too scratched the itch that never goes away and bought a bike.

In the last year I haven't done many miles though, I've been mostly one of the 'dreaded Sunday riders' but did commute when I could for a while (office closed down and now I work from home). I get out and about whenever the urge and time permits really, can be any time! Now I'm back on a bike, it's hard to see me ever being without one again.

Happy riding! Very Happy

Clapping welcome to the mad house, you will find a lot of us " OLD GITS " on here, I'm 56 and got the bug again two years ago, and have never looked back, i've got a Honda NTV650 (deauville) and love it. It all started when on holiday in Majorica, usually hire a car for a few days when on hols, but this time hired a 125 on car license, ( no full bike, didnt need one in 70's ) got the bug again, said to to my wife when we get home I would try and get my full license so to hire a larger bike when on hol's again, ( more stable and comfy two up ) great idea she say's, got my full license, hired a deauville and both of us toured Cornwall, fantastic down there by the way, needless to say a couple of months later went and bought one ( 10 year old ), my wife wasn't to happy at the time, but now she is quite taken with it, and enjoys our days out, albeit she is a fair weather pillion, so enjoy yourself and ride safe Thumbs Up
P.S my first bike was a 78 Suzuki GT125 twin, was fast as f---, had it race tuned by a mate, scared the shit out of me a few times Laughing
