Cleaning TFT monitors?

Are there any TFT monitor wipes or anything around to clean up TFT screens?

I find it impossible to clean off any marks as you usualy just smear it and make it worse or something so thought there must be some special cloth type thing to clean them with?

Any ideas?

Yeah you can get anti-static whipes which are slighly wet, they work a tread and stops dust too

I use a fine weave anti-static cloth with an anti-static spray. If you have a local computer shop supplied by RSD (or Maplin - though they can sometimes be pricy for some stuff), they do a great anti-static spray. Small white can with a green label. Good for screens, contacts and boards. Also, for cases and screen surrounds, RSD supply a foam cleaner which is also excellent (leave it to foam until it turns to plain liquid and wipe away). Small warning, both are extremely flamable, so no smoking at the same time

You could use a moist piece of kitchen towel or something like that - the key thing to remember with a TFT screen is not to press hard on the screen!

Be careful with kitchen towl, the surface of kitchen can be very corse and can cause scratching of the screen surface, particular issue if you have a Sony or Mitsubishi screen etc, as they have on most of the mid/high spec screens a microfine layer over the screen...

I bought a pack of 100 multi-purpose screen and keyboard wipes, have used them on all the office monitors and they work very well, they were only £0.99 a pack from my stationary suppliers too.

I spent 5 minutes cleaning my laptop with them and it looks like new again don't know how long it'll last for but they are good wipes.

Used them on this LCD screen and it hasn't left any marks or damaged it like I was worried about so if it's fine on an LCD screen then it'll be perfectly fine on a TFT screen too.

Thanks for reccommendations. It's well worth spending 5/10 minutes just to go over and clean your screens/laptop etc as they'll probably stay in good condition for much longer too.

Don't use kitchen towel!

When its damp and you're wiping surfaces with it, bits can come off and your monitor is going to look worse than it did before you started messing with it.

These wipes are so damn good they've turned me into a mini-Hex (Gav) I keep cleaning things Done all the monitors and screens, a few keyboards, this laptop and the server as well. What next? hmm not done the printers yet

I wonder if they are good at cleaning my bikes windscreen

Yam's ya sad git.......i tend to use a brillo pad on the computer screen, great at getting dead fly's off , but for the bike just ride it through the local car wash......

Use a camera lens cleaner or glasses cleaner.

Lint free camera lens cleaner is better.
