You reputedly wear a £2500 suit to work.

Suck it up, bitch.

B&Q... Laughing

I remember needing a number of brackets for a job and B&Q wanted £1.50 something for a packet of four. And they were shite quality. I then found a local hardware seller who had 50 well-made ones to a box for £4.95.

Shocked

B&Q are profiteering scum. They buy cheap shit from china and sell it here at primo prices as if it were primo quality. I'm amazed they're still in business. But then I remember Eastenders is still on the box after over two decades.

B&Q aren't cheap. A couple of weeks ago i needed some 4" screws, a pack of 10 screws in B&Q was £6, a box of 200 of the same screws in the local builders merchant was £11..........

Much like Halfords, our local motor factor sells quality oil and filters and beats them on price every time.

And would probably have been about £8 from the trade counter in the same shop you were in. Smile

I tend to prefer toolstation for cheap stuff, as at least they're upfront that its own brand chinese stuff, not some super premium quality stuff.

Still amazes me how many people buy stuff there though, A guy I work with drove past both toolstation and screwfix to b&q to get a load of pipe fittings the other day, despite me telling him it'd be loads cheaper there, and handing him a catalogue with them circled. Cost him about £25 instead of 7/8

I always go to our local hardware place as it seems to be loads cheaper than B&Q for screws, fixings, nic-nacs etc. The paints, strippers, fillers, brushes, sand-paper etc are the same, cheaper but better.

I only resort to B&Q for stuff they don't have because there aren't any other DIY places in range of us.

The bloke behind the counter on the stores bit is a fountain of knowledge. Since we moved into our (built by twats then wrecked by junkies) place when i was a DIY virgin, he's my new best mate Mr. Green

B&Q don't own Screwfix. Both brands are owned by Kingfisher and have been so for over a decade.

I recently priced up 2 bits for MrsGixer's car - oil and spark plugs.

Halfords was £2 cheaper on the oil, but £2 more expensive on the plugs, so the price was identical. I went to Halfords solely because it was easier to get to and park at.

When I went to the counter, the chap there told me there was a promotion on with the oil, and so I got a set of 8 Halfords Pro screwdrivers for free with it - they normally sell them for £20.

Yea; as far as I knew screwfix as we know it now (with the local trade counters) has always been in the same group as B&Q.

I don't expect bargain prices, but they offer a good selection and are convenient as you can check online etc.

two pounds of oval wire head nails served in a paper bag. that was my old chandlers, but heaven help ypu if you didn't know the correct term or size in inches.

I once went in for a philips screwdriver, that started the shit rolling big time.
Although i did have some satisfaction asking for a Bull nosed rebate plane.

That would be my phones auto-correct feature, since Korn sacked the spell checker monkey such things happen - suck it up, bitch.

As for the irony it was out of context so you fail there too. What a man pays for his suit bears no relevance to a brands ridiculous prices.

Does wearing a £2500 suit mean the OP has to shop at Waitrose for snacks rather than McDonalds? Thought not. Wink

It rather depends if you have limits on what you consider to be 'ok' as opposed to 'ridiculous' for a suit.
Some might reasonably see that you could have probably spent £1500 on a tailored suit and be able to afford to but an awful lot of stuff at B&Q rather than a cheaper store Wink.
