 |
|
Dear BCF,
I want to get the hell out my parents house. Not that we don't get along or anything, I get on with them better than ever now really - but i'm 22 this year, got a decent thing going at work and feel it's time to fly the nest (again)
This time I wont have a dumb broad girlfriend to move in with so it's going to be pretty hard going if i'm on my own.
I was looking at studio apartments and a lot seem to be for students, whats the deal with these? Is there any legalities involved that they must be a student? I mean, if they're paying the rent, who cares?
Or is student accommodation something set up via grants etc. specifically made cheaper so students can live closer to their uni which only students can live in
I assume that's the case, in which I wouldn't feel right about conning some student accommodation...
Seems all houses etc. come in about £500 a month basic rent, I make not much over a grand a month so could afford with some cutbacks on gadgets and goodies, but would be much better with a room-mate. Problem is, my mates are bums! They like living at home on the cheap and most only work a couple of days a week
I don't see how people can have no motivation to move out, I feel like a sadact still living with my parents and my room is so fucking small since we moved it's grinding on me. I want my double bed back D:
I have moved out before to a flat in town when I was with the long-term ex, but that was £750 basic rent so took the piss really!
It's difficult in not knowing where i'll be with work 6 months down the line either as i'm a temp on a sort of rolling contract
Dunno, any advice with moving out guys?
How about living with strangers?
Wouldn't fancy having some chinese bloke stand and shit all over the toilet seat like some of the horror stories i've heard on here! ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

Not all council places are in sucky areas you know.
You'd very likely have no chance of a council place.
They do have a bidding system thing these days though so who knows.
Council houses used to be the norm for everyday folk ('til the tories sold them off).
Cardiff Council used to have a hard-to-let list that was open to all as no buggar wanted the areas they were in.
Why lodge with strangers when you get the same deal but more familiar at home?
Bedsits
Caravan Park?
School caretaker? need a change of job there though |

I think you need to clarify yourself over that comment as it's offending me......are you suggesting everyone who lives in a council house is scum? If so, you can just about go & ram yourself hard up the poo pipe . |
Nah, I grew up in council houses as I said, but you can't possibly say that most council estates aren't rough I had so many pushbikes stolen, our dogs nicked and all sorts
Of course not ALL of them are scum, i've got family in them etc. But MOST of them, yeah, in my experience.
That's what I thought about them as well with the bidding, I think my rents are just stuck in the past, they even said that "that's how people get started, in council houses!" Yeah if you've got kids and nowhere else to go...
Council houses are for people who need them anyway, I can just about afford to live alone if I had to, I just don't want to be empty pocketed every month
Apologies if I caused offense, but tape your nipples up so they don't get so sore next time ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

Definitely look into lodging, maybe post some adverts "Single 22 year old male, fit, attractive, seeks broad minded mature landlady with flexible approach to rent."

If you do your homework, you can usually work out the best sort of places to lodge in, it does take a bit of time working out what's best for you...you basically need to work out what compromises you would be happy to make...and then set up a profile online - a place like Spareroom.com is a good site as any.
Then look through other people's profiles.
I would suggest (after my vast years of lodging experience), to find someone who wants you to share their place because they would like a bit of company, or to feed their cat when they are out...that sort of arrangement, rather than they need you there for the money.
You need to ask specific questions.
- will you be able to sit in the lounge (are you living in the whole house, or will you be asked to stay in your room)
- how often are they in (Cabin crew can be great to share with but also really awful - depending on their stance on noise)
Actually I have made some fab friends from being in house shares...and have been invited to some great parties and hosted some great parties too. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Depending on whether you were happy to move elsewhere, I have a room you can have for a mere £200 a month, you get a shared shower, a kitchen and a private (obv) bedroom. Interwebs access and a key.
Simple, basic but there |

well with all due respect, even if i was house sharing with mates (which i basically did. i had a 3 bedroom bungalow and left the back doors open for mates to come n go as alot of them where in unstable family's) i kept my personal "bathing and grooming" items in my bedroom and left a pack of disposable cheap stuff (soaps, mini body wash's, razors, shaving cream, you know, the basic stuff) in the bathroom for people to use if they needed to clean up for what ever reason.
course then my landlord found out, wasnt best pleased and kicked me the fook out despite keeping the place spik and span (except for that fire extinguisher that got let off in the shed.....mwahahaha)
(P.S to the dude that said about the annoying as fuck mate, my statement above, THATS what mates do! not annoy the fuck outta each other) ____________________ BCF's biggest cunt list: Cansa, Pits, Rob |

Another for house sharing, I'm by far the worst for clearing up in this place, and I'm not that bad really. Seen lots of people come and go in the three and a half years I've been here, not had any real bad experiences though. (One time I forgot my keys, the guy who opened the door had a 6 inch hunting knife in his hand hidden behind the door, was obviously expecting somebody unfriendly!. That's about the worst that's happened!).
Do it, you (probably) wont regret it. ____________________ I am a bellend, I am a man of constant sorrow, I am a gummy bear, I am a rock. |
