What is the downside? Other than opening the wallet.

90% back road scratching, could do with more mid-range (getting lazy with gearchanges!), manic top end not highest priority, running costs not really a problem on 5k miles a year, old git insurance and DIY maintenance, but don't need cruiser style just yet.

Very fine year for R1s, you wont regret it.

lots more power, but a gentle right hand until you get the hang of it is all you need.

If it was an '09 R1, I'd be saying to you...

GET IT GET IT GET IT GET IT

But I suppose an '04 is good enough! Wink Laughing

? Do you have one for sale Wink I thought 04 was lighter than it's predecessors?

That's good news, TVR/kitcars are generally OK for overtaking on single carriageways, but the 600 makes things a lot easier, I'd forgotten how easy huuuuuge overtakes are on a 'bike, eg tractor followed by 20 sheep, although cog selection essential for the 600. R1 must have more mid-range.
