Are vehicle checks on a bike's reg plate generally reliable? I've run quite a few on bikes I've been interested in buying using just the free service on websites and the direct gov one. I've just come across one with a correct registration date but wrong bike make and cc.

Bloke selling reckons mistakes are common (if he's reading: hi!). Is he talkin' bollox?

Can't say that I've seen a mistake in the 10 or so checks I've run in the past. The only discrepancies have been genuine issues.

I've had plenty of "data not found" entries, but not incorrect info.

Don't think that really helps your question though, sorry!
