What's the point of it though?

If you can afford to buy one, you're not going to give a rats ass whether or not it can do 94mpg. Rolling Eyes

Fair point but perhaps that kind of tech will make it's way to hot hatches and other cars people can actually afford. Maybe you can buy an AMG/M Series BM and actually afford to use it! Laughing

Rumours are the Enzo replacement (Due sometime this year) will also be a hybrid or have some sort of KERS system

I still reckon we'll end up with hub-motor conversion kits run from batteries stuck in the boot or similar.
Be ideal for a front wheel drive car to have them on the rear wheels; giving you four wheel drive for adverse conditions.
If they only worked up to say 45mph, they'd keep the price down but allow very cheap in-town use, with the added benefit of zero emissions in town.

But still, you're going to have to have a good chunk of batteries, which is either going to be bulky or expensive.

They tested an electric powered car in Devon. It managed to do less than about a tenth of its total range because Devon is so full of hills.

Electric cars are NOT the future! Evil or Very Mad

Hence I am very open to this kind of technology if we can avoid the dystopian future of a national electric car infrastructure.

Jag are messing with a jet engine that is used to generate electricity
not sure how fuel efficient it is, but its a very small jet engine

Quote:
A zero-emission, battery-only range of 68 miles is possible, before the twin jets kick in to charge the batteries. And with the four motors working in tandem with the turbines, a 205mph top speed is claimed.

Yes, electricity isn't the future, or shouldn't be. Just reinforces the general public attitude of not in my backgarden type thinking. People think they're not polluting my moving the source of polution from their immediate environment to somewhere far enough away that they can forget about it.
