Has anyone got one/used one before?

I've spotted stuff like this - https://www.mgdonline.co.uk/products/dometic_combicool_rc_1200_camping_fridge.php

I'm doing a few race meetings where you can camp/have a BBQ. I also go camping in some fairly rural places where there is no power at all, something like this would be handy if it works well.

Does anyone know how long they'll run for from a bottle and what else you need to make this work (obviously a gas bottle).

I've tried minifridges before and they've drained a battery overnight, I've got an inverter which attaches to a car battery, again drains them a little too quickly.

I resorted to putting a thick coolbag with iceboxes in a deep freezer and then storing it in my car boot (which seems to stay very cool) and that wasn't bad.

So, would a gas freezer stop me making hideous bodges that ends with me cooking vaguely refrigerated sausages and burgers on a sunday!

Gas powered fridges work perfectly well having been widely used in caravans for decades (and houses too in the past) - but do you really need it for a weekend?
A cool box with ice packs in is far more sensible, or choose things which don't need to be kept cold.

I'd agree it's a little overkill for a weekend - well thursday > sunday, and a coolbox would do.

I try to get to about 3-4 race weekends a year and have about 2 weeklong camping trips a year, so It would come in handy, admittedly, on the week long trips, it's easier to pop down to the shops, it's a bit harder when you're jammed in at a race weekend.

Probably not the place to ask but I've always wondered how gas fridges work.

The only thing you can do with gas is burn it which creates heat so how do they make things cold?!
