Trust me, you won't need to practice that sort of stuff.

The swerve, isn't even a 'swerve'. Simply just a slight turn to the right/left.
Wish people would stop stressing over this and for the DSA to bloody reword that term. Mad

The only things that are worth practicing, are the u-turn, slalom and figure of eight.
Thats what I did in an Asda/B&Q car park before my mod 1 and I managed to pass. Neutral

Everything else will just come naturally.

If you're that worried about it, get some training, but it's not really necessary.

It only costs £15. You fail? So what? You've just got first hand experience of the actual test, which is better value for money than any sort of training would be.

Just go for it!

Good point 15 squid is not going to break the bank.

The turning circle on my bike is 4.5 M so I mark two points that far apart to practice my figure 8 around

No, you don't. You really don't.

If you're even a halfway competent rider, you'll have no problems with mod 1. It's all trivial or near trivial. Don't put a foot down during the u-turn, don't stamp on the rear brake in the emergency stop, job done.

The u-turn is the only part that you might not already 'practise' on a regular basis. Use 2 car parking bays down at your local supermarket, if you can do that, you'll have no problem at all in the test.

U turns are not a problem I get practice evryday just getting about town. The swerve is a concern as I've seen threads where people talk about coming off the bike.

How do you mean "use two parling spaces" ?

2 parking spaces side by side is about the width of a small road. You should be able to u-turn in that gap.

Honestly?

The swerve is litterly like riding around a parked car... I'm sure you have done a bigger 'swerve' whilst out on the road before so don't worry about it... tis easy. If its dry, you'll have no problem keeping it stuck to the floor.

Thumbs Up

As Iain said really, Although do lifesavers before getting through the gates.

I did it in the pissing rain and no issue with speed, or swerve, just keep your feet tucked in.

For the emergancy stop I was suggested to just use the tip of my boot on the rear brake to stop it from locking.

I agree with what has previously been said. I never specifically practiced for my mod 1. I literally just turned up on the day and did it. Any even half competent rider on a functional machine should be able to piss it. Just remember lifesavers and good behaviour at all times- even before you enter the testing area. You'll find the examiner will be very helpful and will explain the layout to you as many times as you ask him/her to. It's not rocket science and they operate on the assumption that you have no previous knowledge of the test layout etc.

Good luck Thumbs Up
