I took this picture the other day but haven't been able to upload it yet.

One of the museum curators rides a few old classics in to work every day, his usual is a blue Ducati Mark 4 like this (this one isn't his).
https://www.motorcycleclassics.com/uploadedImages/Blogs/Landon/450desmo.jpg

Also every now and again he rides this in (this is the picture I took the other day)
https://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee81/paddy2007dug/temporary.jpg?t=1351690318

Apparently once in a blue moon he rides a very very old Moto Guzzi in too, not seen that one yet though.

So does anybody else commute or know somebody that commutes daily on something a bit unusual?

NBR... but... quite a few times now I've seen a guy in his mid 30s commuting to University on this...

Not a bike, but on my commute on the A3 I often see a smart car completely covered in artificial grass. Looks fucking bizarre!!!

I used to cross the path of a guy driving a 1930s Morris 8 to work every morning, including when it was -15C, despite the fact it's pretty likely to have had no heater Laughing.

I see a red 1960's Lotus Elan every morning, even in the freezing cold. I've never seen it with the roof up, and the old white haired guy who drives it looks like he's having a whale of a time!

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Its in those colours if I remember correctly?

Used to see it on the A505 near Duxford in south Cambridgeshire. It was in those colours. I suspect it's the same car as the one you've seen, as I didn't see it every day. We always used to exchange waves as I was in a rather later Morris.

A bloke in another department switches between a K series BMW, a BSA gold flash and a Russian Dnepr.

I had to meet a bloke in east London to price up some artificial turf in a small park. He turned up in one of those green hairy smart cars.

He couldn't wait to park it out of sight around the corner and get right away from it.

Me too, always between Dunmow and Braintree. This is what happens when you get offered a shite part exchange, you hang on to the car longer than you intend.

I see two of these most days, why anyone would commute in that is beyond me.
https://1.bp.blogspot.com/_eCBay0FmDos/TCFZT8U2iII/AAAAAAAAKcI/0UNzB8xgK84/s1600/ChromeBentley2.jpg

I also saw a Bentley Continental GT taxi yesterday lunchtime, apprently there's a financial crisis, FFS!

This thread brought to mind a bloke I used to work with, who also used to use a Ducati like the one in the OP, which was unusual enough, but when the weather was severely inclement, he would come to work in one of these:

https://img809.imageshack.us/img809/3826/bedfordbus.jpg

Made even odder by the fact that they were his only forms of transport and he wasn't some bearded, corduroy wearing old giffer, he was about 22 at the time Cool

Every morning I used to see a Smart car fitted with a Rolls Royce grill and badge.

https://tuzing.cz/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/sma1111.jpg

Now I work from home, so don't tend to see many unusual vehicles on my commute from upstairs. This morning, however, I did tread on an F-4 Phantom which had been left on the stairs.

A mate of mine who has moved to Australia now (and took his bike with him) used to commute on a bigbore BSA A65 flattracker in the summer and an MZ ES250 Trophy in the winter.

This BSA is my favourite bike.
https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f216/stinkwheel/bsa2.jpg

This is not the actual MZ. His one was mankier.
https://www.sweller.co.uk/sob/images/trophy_small.jpg

He also had a Citroen DS that he took out if he had to take the kids anywhere. (not the actual one, his was a kind of snot yellow colour)
https://modculture.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/citroen_ds2.jpg

I have another mate who for a few years alternated between a BSA M20 and a Rudge Ulster.

Not a bike, but still a 'cycle' - was someone on my local commute filtering down the row of traffic on a coker:
https://www.bikeforest.com/large_wheel_unicycle.jpg

36" unicycle.

Always fancied an 'ordinary' (penny fathering) for the commute; though traffic lights would make it 'interesting'.

Every time I see a DS, I'm reminded of The Comic Stip's classic - 'Mr Jolly Lives Next Door'.

During the Olympics I was on night duty. I left my office about 1am to have a drive round the borough to make sure all was quiet road wise.

As I passed the Bangladeshi kids that hang about in our compound but otherwise cause no bother, I heard them shout " Wahay, let's have a go on that mate innit".

Ahead of me in the gloom riding towards our security barrier I could see a bicycle tail light, quite high in the air. A cyclist doing a wheelie I thought. As I got closer I realised it was in fact a penny farthing. As I got even closer he accelerated onto the Aspen Way roundabout and I realised he was wearing a pith helmet.

A quick google a few hours later revealed it must have been this man, who lives locally and rode round the world on the thing.
