Too many messages recently

Hi all
I joined the forum yesterday, sent someone a PM and had a helpful response. However, I can't reply to the user, as each time I try I hit the error that I have sent too many messages recently.
Have I done something wrong, or are new users restricted in line with the other thread in the help section?
I'd at least like to say 'thanks'.

We've had a lot of people joining up to send message to people selling things to try and scam them - so I believe some limits on how many messages new users can send initially have been implemented to try and control this.

Thanks for the reply. I've finally been able to send the message. Not quite sure how to send pictures, but one step at a time is good progress.
