I don't know too much about the Deauville, but is the rev counter fed from the ECU? If so, you could have an electrical problem - possibly in one of the connectors, in or around the ECU.
I'm assuming you have already checked the spark plugs and air filter, HT cables and battery? ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

Have you checked the coils? Made sure there's a strong spark at each plug? IMHO symptoms may suggest this if one coil per cylinder and one not working 100%.

Edit: I meant to ask if it was driven separately.
Have you looked at the plugs to see if they are burning the same? If they're not, this should at least identify which cylinder is dodgy, then you could start tracing back to the coil and ECU.
Make sure the inside of the plug caps are clean and the HT leads are clean and in good condition, and not arcing to earth.
Chect the HT and LT sides of the coil, and check for physical damage and signs of arcing where the HT cable connects etc.
I guess it could be a dirty carb problem, but the electrics are quick and easy to check. ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)
