why are motorcycles not allowed on bus lanes. as there tax is classed as bicycle ?

They are allowed in some bus lanes, the clue is in the blue sign Wink

Yeh some in Bath you can but others you can't, seems to be the same in Bristol.

So how come ALL bicyles don't have to have tax, ins and number plates....

Check out the highway code...
Its bus lane & cycles.

In leeds I have no issues in using the bus lane. unless its the one with the camera's and 2+ usage only... But then again that also has a MotorCycle on the sign as well Wink

Down in here in Colchester majority of bus lanes allow motorbikes, certain ones don't though. If you look on the blue sign as someone said above there will be a bus, motorbike, bicycle and a taxi. Some have the road marked with the same icons too down here.

I am interested to know why certain ones don't allow bikes though?

The taxation class is actually Motor Bicycle

But Motor Bicycle will not fit on the disc so it is cut short to bicycle
