Its not worth much so it wasn't stolen to sell or for parts. Look around all the local chav hangouts and see if there is someone ragging it around a field somewhere.

Thanks guys! Thumbs Up Appriciate your help.

The bike was indeed locked up at the time, so it looks like it may of been a van job.

What? For a 1988 NC24? That is hard to believe.

But if you're going to steal a bike, you might as well steal a 2011 R1 as a bike that's worth about £500 with all of the documents etc.

That probably doesn't mean diddly shit to the theives, a bike is a bike to them, then can sell it for money - thats all they care about, they're not going to overlook a bike just because it happens to be 'older' or whatever...

People who steal bikes don't always care about the resale value, Marjay.

There's never really a set reason for nicking bikes.

As said above.

If you are nicking stuff, chances are you have next to no money in the first place so if big Jeff on the council estate will give you £200 for a nicked NC24 then you are going to nick one, to you it may not be but to someone with no money and who likes thieving in general, it's a very attractive prospect.

Also, most thieves seem to know that a brand new litre sports bike is 'beyond' them in the same way that a brand new BMW M5 is beyond them, with all the security features and pain-in-the-assery to get through, it's not worth it for the 'average' thief so the older things worth less money are a good bet for them.

You're just giving them too much credit. Don't think of them as humans, think largish rats. Specifically lazy ones. Want, take, have, that's really all there is to it.

Given the circumstances, I'd expect the scrotes in this instance to be fairly local, so definitely do a walk around.

Definitely nicked to joyride...it'll probably turn up but it may well be trashed. I suppose the other possibility is one of the little scrotes owns ones and wants it for parts.

Yeah, I thought about comparing thieves to rocks but even that'd be an insult to rocks, we build walls with them and they are just, well, rocky and awesome.

Thieves, right down there with the lowest of the low.
