on mod 2 are you expected to stop at every junction ...

as in the car test...

or can you slow ride towards it...do your observations and go without stopping...assuming of course its safe to go....

and ..

when youre asked to stop...

after youve pulled over and stopped...

is it put the bike in neutral, cancel signal and foot on rear brake...

thanks for any help...

any other fiddley bits of information would be appreciated...

Yes depending on the road markings, i.e solid white line at the end or stop sign etc - stop fully.

I left my indicator on, put bike in neutral, foot on brake.

Who on earth told you you have to stop at every junction on the car test? If it's only a 'give way' and you can see it's clear (after you've done all obs etc.) then you don't need to stop.

On being asked to stop, I would do neutral/cancel indis/safety position. That means you don't have to remember to cancel your indi before moving off (if having done your obs there's nothing coming).

Thats silly, because you should be indicating right when moving off anyway.

is that the 2 solid white lines at the end of some roads...

so those sort of markings require you to stop fully even if its safe to go ...

no slow riding towards ...observation signal and go without stopping...

what would you do ...signal observation stop completely in the position you need to be in...then observations and go....

I think your getting confused TBH, if you have to STOP completely then they'll make it bloody obvious ie big red STOP sign, STOP markings on the road etc. A normal giveway line doesn't mean you have to stop whether in control of a car or a bike, 99% of junctions you don't have to stop if its safe to enter...

If you've looked round and seen there's nothing there, why do you need to indicate to move off? Fair enough there's nothing wrong with indicating right as you move off. Just not always necessary.

OP - I think you need to go back to basics and read the whole of the Highway Code before you even think about going anywhere near your test - this covers road markings - you should study this part carefully.

ok...

thanks everyone i think ive got an idea now...

after i passed mod 1 i was just having a browse for mod 2 test dates and saw one for the 6th of june ...i thought bugger it...let me just do it ...if i dont pass it its no big deal...at least ill have an idea of what to exect next time...

ive been riding for 2 years now plenty of bad habits but no time to take any lessons with the bank holidays so hope for the best...

i know you should avoid undue hesitation but ...with the car test ...have the protocols were unecessary and a lot of stopping for safety regardless...i thought it would be the same with the mod 2 but ...ill keep it flowing....

anything else i need to be aware of ...apart from observations like a churchill dog...

Yes... everything in the Highway Code.

Relax, keep your head/eyes up and be aware of what's going on around you.

Why give the tester an excuse to fail you? You should indicate every time

Personaly, I'm not sure you're ready for a MOD2. How did you pass the theory? Have you actually read the Highway Code?

This, and the fact that your instructor still counts as another road user, and therefore he should be made aware of your intention to move out.

obvioulsy you can over take...and use an oncoming lane usually...and i know the high way code allows you to do so...

but is anyone here going to sit there and say that these tests have anything to do with how people ride in reality...

my questions are about the test itself...ive squeesed it in before my cbt runs out and havent had the benefit of lessons but ive been on the road for 2 years and ive done 15,000 miles and so i can figure it out myself ...with a little advice ...

On your test you follow the Highway Code, religiously. Good luck with your test.

How so? Thinking
As for overtaking, dont bother unless you absolutely have to, ie: if there is a tractor crawling in a nsl road, road is clear, no solid white lines or chevrons.
Iv taken driving lessons and bike lessons and iv never HAD to overtake at any point.

i can only think of one time I've had to overtake another motor vehicle (except dual carriageway/motorway) in 5 or so years I've been on the road. so i wouldn't do it on your test.
good luck.
