I am having a little trouble jacking up the bandit, I am jacking it from the stock tie bars to some new ones 40mm shorter. I have taken the origional tie bars out and attached the new ones through the bottom axel. but the wheel doesnt drop low enough for the tie bars to fit? it is gettign stuck on something (pretty sure its the bottom of the shock) how do I get around this?

40mm shorter is a huge amount.

What you should do is this:

Decide how high you would like your rear to sit. Get the tail up to the desired height on a paddock/abba stand then drop off the bolt from one end of the stock dogbones. The rear wheel will drop to the floor. Now shove the bolt back through the hole and scrape one dogbone on the end of the bolt to leave a mark, then remove the dogbones completely. The mark will give you your hole centers for your new ride-height.

You do realise that reducing the dogbone length by 4cm is going to raise the rear by something ridiculous/potentially dangerous as 10 to 12cm higher?

Don't do it. It is a bad idea.

Just been reading online that apparently for every 4mm length taken off the dog bones provides 25mm of lift at the end of the bike....could this be right?
