done my das last year bought a cbr 600f drove about and took it to switzerland on my own, done about 6k on it in a few months, sold it in october.

now im in the hunt for a new bike and i loved the cbr for the money i thought it ticked all the boxes for a novice rider, but what i didnt like about the cbr after taking it around europe was the severe lack of midrange, it would jerk from 5k-7ishk then fly away this took about seconds unless i dropp down a few gears.

so can anyone say why i wouldnt or shouldnt get a vfr bear in mind i am still a novice rider, with a few months biking experiance, as sometimes i found the lack of midrange in the cbr was kind of a good thing for a novice as you really had to work the bike to get it ti
o go fast and because of that the less i drove it fast.

How about a fireblade or zx9r?
Similar to your CBR-F, but with more midrange.

I had a '99 VFR800 as my 3rd bike. Loved it. Shonky electrics (I replaced the voltage regulator umpteen times) but the engine was stunning. If you've ridden a CBR happily for a while it shouldn't take much adjusting to. You'll just find yourself changing gear a lot less.

i dont think i have enough experiance to ride a fireblade or zx9r, there is a local dealership with a decent vfr 98 plate with 21k on it for 1700 was thinking of haggling him down to 1600

Buy the VFR, you've already made your choice and just wanted us to confirm it for you.

Personally I'd have a 929 Fireblade over a VFR750, but it's up to you.

I've just come back to biking after a very long break and bought a 99 VFR 800. Great bike, very forgiving but has the poke when you want it.

I had a VFR750 as my first big bike, straight after passing my test and loved it.

Was forgiving enough for a 'novice' rider and yet quick enough to worry big sports bikes when I had the confidence.

Torque curve as flat as a pancake, so they pull in pretty much any gear.

Downside is the looks admittedly, not ugly, just a bit plain, and not exciting enough after about 3 years, but then I probably would have swopped up then anyway, had it not been nicked....

First off, I was thinking a 90s CBR which were more akin to a CBR600F.
Secondly, you can different bars, seat and rear sets to adjust that position. While it's much harder to lower the weight of the more lardy VFR.

2012 blade is surprisingly comfortable. More so than the 09-11 bike.

My 954 Fireblade is easily all day comfortable.

Instead of wasting your time posting questions that can't be answered on a forum as it's down to personal preference, try what people used to do; go for a test ride.

Personally though, I've never test rode a bike, mainly because each bike I've owned is such a substantial step up from the last, that I knew I would love it regardless.

Did love my CBR, you're right about the midrange thing but like you said, it's a good thing for novices. Adding a K&N really helped smooth out the 5k-7k mark for me, also I enjoyed the fact that pre 6k was sensible riding and post 6k was mental riding.
