Bike safety petition

Some people might already be aware of this but I've not seen it recently on the forums.

It's a petition arranged by bennetts (save your insurance company hate for elsewhere) to get motorcycle related questions on the UK car theory test. As half the people on the road seem to be unaware of what a motorcycle is or how to deal with the presence of one, I think it's pretty important.

It runs until 2:00 AM tomorrow so sign it!

I got an email from them, I'm with 'em on this.

Hmm, the insurance company with the worst understanding of motorcycling peddling a petition for better understanding of motorcyclists!

They're not petitioning for a better understanding though are they?, they're joining a bandwagon akin to the "Think Bike, Think Biker" campaign.

I'm all for "safety" questions on the theory test, as long as they're done properly and not useless.

also, a big stamp at the start and end that says "Motorbikes can legally taxi through traffic, if you try and stop them, you're likely to get twatted in the face" would be ace as well

Well, if they hadn't used something that seems like rather underhand spam they might have got more signatures.

The idea it's self is far from great and the execution is more 'damaging' to biking if they don't get it - like the 'test case' in court which the nay-sayers bungled over bike parking in London. (Though obviously not to such a great extent of badness.)

It was blatant marketing, ineffectual tokenism, getting the signatures would only have made it eligible for consideration for debate, and the relevant Minister is already a paid up member of MAG.
