He fully admits it was rider error. Every part of the bike apart from the engine block is damaged.

The most gutting thing is that the insurance company hasn't even assessed it yet and he's put down a deposit on a new black one that he was due to be picking up on the Friday afterwards! Shocked

Pfft he was slow, Ryan who we ride with wrote his off after 4 days, and he is an excelent rider.

Seem he late breaked and ran onto the white line, a lass called Amy we were riding with was on her NC30 on the white line coming the other way (out of all the people in all the UK 2 friends run into each other) and the NC took out the fireblades bottom panel, case, and managed to bend the crank.

Was Ryans fault from what i have heard, and Amy was thrown off the bike and had something like 40 stitches in her foot.

I think the new blade are out to kill other bikes, just 2 days back another one ran wide and nearly clipped me!

Not too sure when this happened, but generally the US take delivery of their new machines a month or so before we do over here. So this could well have happened before there were even any CBR1000's in the country.

What a waste of bike. How on earth did he manage that? Sad

Also looking at the cuts on his arm I don't think he would have been wearing a jacket. Clever thing to do on a bike as powerful as that. Rolling Eyes

He says he was out riding in a group on an unfamiliar road and was relying on watching the braking points of the bikes on front. Came into a left hander too hot and ran out of lean, says he was doing about 90mph at the time.

Suffered road rash, seems to be a typical US injury, warm weather = T-shirt. At least he was wearing a helmet.

He's lucky because I can't see many people walking away from a 90mph bin without a lid on.

He sounds like a right tool riding at 90mph on a road he's unfamiliar with whilst wearing only a t-shirt. Oh well i'm sure he'll learn. Confused

Tell me about it, I was in the shop drooling over the new blade the other day, such a lovely bit of kit and some clown goes and does that to it, it can't of been more than a few months old. Evil or Very Mad

Ouch.

Looks like the bike went down very hard. I know it's totally smashed, but the bike still looks all in one piece, which is a good thing I guess.

I don't know the rider, but I'd say if had a smaller bike first that could have been avoided, surely those bikes have almost unlimited grip on a decent road?

Helmet looks to have held up very well, makes me wonder what would happen to mine in a crash!

Edit: He's been riding for 10+ years without a crash, so..er.. Embarassed *retracts above*

Here's the link to the thread if you're interested. Looks like it was only a few days ago after all.

Hi
He's obvioulsy a nob and has no sympathy from me, although i do feel sorry for the bike. It's obvious he was just wearing a t-shirt, though I cant see it being 90 miles per hour because if he hit the floor at those speeds he'd have no arms left to be honest.

Too F**king right!

There has always been rumours that a speedlimit being imposed over here, and weirdly enough it's the genuine local Manxies (I'm one myself but a different type) who actually want the limit to come into affect. Those are also the very narrowminded Manxies amongst us. Rolling Eyes Middle Finger Middle Finger

I have BIG doubts it will happen, since the speedlimits have been a never ending discussion in Tynwald (our Parliament) since life begun on this rock.

If they do - I with some fellow bikers/drivers will get a petition up and going and there will be a revolt, no shit about it. Why have Tynwald when Tony and his cronies do just as good a job?

Only benefit from having Tynwald around would be due to the tax benefits, everything else would be the same as the UK. Shocked

ah well, of I go and do 140mph, while I can, without such legal worries on my shoulders.... Adios!
