Right, I have a 1999 GSXR SRAD 600 (carbed)

I bought a whole load of fairings on ebay from a 750 Fuel Injected SRAD of the same year.

Everything slotted on perfectly, except the tank.

My tank had 2 diddly little pipes which were connected to two hoses. One hose was a drain hose for the tank cap. The other was something else (I have no idea - possible air?)

The new tank had these two pipes but also a third one in the middle. When I took off the fuel pump, I could see that it was literally just a hole leading into the bottom of the tank. Looked about 1 inch long. Didn't seem to lead anywhere.

Now, I've never had a fuel injected bike, so I don't know the first thing about them, but I googled it and it looked like some sort of 'return pipe?'.

Right, now here is my question. Filling the tank with fuel meant it just gushed out of this hole. So I needed to seal it. So I nipped a bit of hose off the end of one of the drain pipes, shoved it on the end (the end inside the tank), then folded it over and tied it down with wire. It seems sturdy enough. However, is it okay to permanently submerse this rubber in fuel. It isn't going to disintegrate over time is it? I mean its designed for carrying fuel isnt it?

Yes it's fine. The extra barb is a fuel return from the fuel regulator.
The other two are tank breather and overflow.

You have to maintain 42psi across the fuel rail and to do this excess fuel has to be returned to the tank, via that inlet. Any piece of fuel hose will be fine just put a bolt in the end and secure with a clip.

oh brilliant. I've already fitted everything back together. I slipped on bit of fuel hose, then folded it in half and used wire to secure it in that position. I mean, that shouldn't be a problem right?

I mean, It would be a massive hassle to have to take it all apart again. But if putting a bolt in it is the right thing to do, then I can do it.
