Hi does anyone know how to get the locking barrel out of a GPz petrol cap?

I have 3 caps but only keys for 2, one of which I want to swap so the ignition and petrol cap use the same key.

Any help greatly appreciated

The Water-cooled ones? My father has the 900r and we swapped the barrel in the cap over.

Its quite simple, But.. You have to be able to open the lid. Under the lid is a cover with 2 screws holding it on.

After this, its straight forward, Be careful though.. I seem to remember it including small springs and ball bearings somewhere in the mechanism.

If you can't get the latch open im not sure if or how it would be to.

I've got 2 caps stripped down at the moment, the air cooled mechanism seems a little different (frame shape) between the 2, so I want to take the actual lock barrel out of one and put it in the other, I can get the barrel to move a couple of mm up and down, but I'm guessing there is something holding it in there, which I can't see, or a way to remove what I can't see.

Will post pics if needed

It's OK I found how to do it Smile

I might post a 'how to' thread tomorrow... if that's OK with the bosses?
